in honor of lysander's birthday today, how does he usually celebrate it, if at all? does he have a favorite birthday memory?

ouhhh. well. The thing is, lysander’s mom died in childbirth, so his birthday is also the anniversary of her death. His dad unfortunately finds the latter more important to commemorate, so lysander tends to “celebrate his birthday” by visiting his mother’s grave. He got presents as a child, sure, but his dad tends to spend the day holed up in his room, because he thinks it’s weak to show grief in front of his son. It’s a whole bad situation for everyone.

HOWEVER he does have a favorite birthday memory! The first time he had his birthday while sharing an apartment with forts, he told forts about his whole situation not really expecting anything out of it, and then forts woke him up just before midnight with a little plushie swan he had made since he thought lysander deserved SOMETHING to celebrate him. It was such a kind gesture that lysander thinks about it all the time and still keeps the swan in his bag for good luck (her name is odette)
