Work: Meeting Etiquette

How would you handle the following (answer in the comments below):

You are at a work meeting with a potential partner company. You are meeting with the founder and other executives of the company. On the desk is a framed cover of Fortune with the founder’s face on it.

The founder is impressive. She rubs elbows with celebrities and other founders and has been named to many lists of the most important power players. She has built a company around her that has achieved a high valuation and is now commanding meetings with Fortune 50 companies. Case in point, she was able to get four of us to travel to her company’s headquarters on a random Wednesday. It was near impossible for us to get the meeting and it was cloaked in confidentiality.

This meeting is the first of (hopefully) many and is like a first date: we want to seem interested but not too interested.

The meeting draws to an end. Everyone in the room stands to leave. You have one shot.

Do you ask her for a picture to post to your public Instagram feed because you "love female founders"?

Or, do you choose to be a professional and let the moment pass you by?

Because both #1 and #2 happened in the meeting.
