James could hardly believe that Sirius was going to be a father. Of course, he was happy. Over the moon, really, at the idea of his best friend being a parent. Out of their whole friend group, though, he had just assumed Sirius wouldn’t be the next to have a kid, or that he would even want to have kids. It felt surreal, in a way, but James knew that just as Katie had been adopted into their growing family of the lot of them, the same would happen for Sirius and Juniper’s child. With Alice and Frank expecting, and now his best mate, James couldn’t wait to see little versions of his friends running around. And for them to find out right around Sirius’ birthday... that was probably the biggest gift he could have gotten this year.
They had just left the birthday boy after having spent the afternoon with the gang, and James and Lily were now back off to their home to spend the rest of the evening. Already tipsy from the drinks they had been accumulating, the night was bubbly and warm with all of the good vibes surrounding them. James had his arm wrapped around Lily’s waist, pulling her in close to him as they walked along. “I know they’ve only just found out, but do you reckon they’ll have a girl or a boy?” James asked curiously as they continued. “I think Sirius might be lost, if they had a girl. But it’d be rather cute.”
