22/06/2024: The Lucas Classic 2024
This past weekend, my friend Pete and I took the Defender 110—missing a front mudflap but still immaculately cleaned—to The Lucas Classic 2024 at Shelsley Walsh. It was a fantastic event, with an impressive turnout of classic cars, Land Rovers, and motorcycles on display. The sheer variety of vehicles made for a spectacular sight, and it was great to see so many enthusiasts coming together to celebrate automotive history.
In attendance was Henry Cole and Fuzzy Townsend, adding to the event’s charm and drawing plenty of interest from fellow motoring fans. Another unforgettable moment was the stunning Spitfire flyover air show, which captivated the crowd and added a touch of wartime nostalgia to the occasion.
Unfortunately, a serious crash led to the closure of the Hillclimb for investigation very early on, preventing many attendees from running their vehicles up the iconic course. The severity of the incident meant that both the police and Shelsley Walsh marshals had to step in, and our thoughts remain with the individual involved, who is currently in hospital in stable condition (apparently)—we wish him a full and speedy recovery.
