17 September 2017 - Land Rover International Owners Show
The years highly anticipated Land Rover show was finally here, after spending the night in a haunted pub, we arrived just after gates opened.
We had no agenda and freebies wasn't really a priority as it would likely end up in the bin after a few weeks sat in the garage,
We did get a chance to meet the guys at Mudstuff and grab a bargain on another LED interior light which is destined for the 90.Two vehicles stood out from the rest in my opinion, and i’m definitely Defender biased,
Range Rover - TACR2 (Truck Fire-Fighting Airfield Crash Rescue)
A 2 Tonne 6x4 beast which we were lucky enough to see on the commute to Peterborough the evening before the show, now more a museum piece but something to appreciate.
Forward Control 101 - The 101FC was mainly produced to meet the Army's requirement for a gun tractor, and was designed to tow a field gun, with a ton of ammunition and other military equipment in the rear load space, giving it the name of the “Land Rover One Tonne”.
Weirdly enough the 101 was designed with being transported by air as a feature; the positioning of the 3.5 litre Rover V8 engine beneath and to the rear of the cab eliminates the bonnet at the front, making the vehicle more or less cuboid thus reducing unused space in transport aircraft. Any information on this particular 101FC can’t be sourced, but based on a little snoop around it looked ex-mod, if it’s not then it’s a damn good attempt at a replica.
We had a blast any i’m sure we’ll go back in 2018, hopefully with the 90.
