Theropod and Ankylosaurus Footprints - Mill Canyon, Utah
For decades, a quarry provided sand used for water filtration. Now it’s lush with fossil discoveries and opened annually to the public.
Followed this from an I Fucking Love Science article calling this the “first fossil bed from the dinosaur extinction itself”.
Highlights:
It’s in Jersey! Mantua to be exact.
Rowan University bought the quarry to preserve the fossil beds. Bless you! Kenneth Lacovera is building new earth science department at the school.
It’s open once a year to the public. Does anyone else cringe seeing this many civilians crawling over a possibly extremely important site? I’m sure they know what they’re doing.
Here’s a link to Rowan University’s Website dedicated to the quarry. (Nice web design!)
