Hello hello hello

I have fantastic news, but context/long ramble first

Before the 19th September 2024, I had two tortoises: Sotéria and Philoména. Sotéria is the big sister, she's older by a year and unlike Philoména, has always been more active and hungry.

I had built an outdoor enclosure for my torts, with fence in the ground and a flexible grid over it to stop anything dangerous from entering the enclosure.

On the 19th September 2024, Sotéria disappeared from the outdoor enclosure with her sister. My mom was about to bring them inside when she noticed that one corner of the grid had fallen in and that she couldn't find Sotéria. We hoped she'd reappear on her own the next day, but nothing.

My family searched the entire garden for hours. The enclosure was completely dug out, but Sotéria remained lost.

I was devastated. All signs pointed to a big bird taking her (we have a murder of crows in the neighborhood), but I couldn't believe she was dead. After all, maybe she was just an asshole who somehow escaped the enclosure and went brumating way too early, and she'd reappear during the spring.

Spring came. The lady I had gotten her from told my mom her tortoises had come out of brumation mid April. Theoretically, that's when Sotéria should have reemerged, but alas, she didn't. I almost gave up hope, but there was still a part of me who believed in my burger-sized brute. That's also partly the reason why I didn't post for 2 weeks. I was grieving.

Fast forward to today, 10th May 2025. My brother found her while bringing out the compost.

She is such an asshole and the worst prankster in the entire Solar System, but she is alive, well and back home.

Sotéria is fine. I think she was stressed this afternoon with all the noise and people handling her, but she got a shower, a bath with the powder for turtles fresh out of hibernation, food (she'sas voracious as ever). She bears no injuries, not a scratch despite the fact that she brumated outside, alone, unsupervised in an uncontrolled environment and that we have micein the garden.

She is now in quarantine for a month, so that she can take the antiworm treatment (yk, the one Philoména hates). I am incredible relieved and free of my Sotéria's-dissapearance-induced depression.

Kitty update

So I did get the cat back safely.

She was in a tree on my nextdoor neighbors garden. I saw her tail as she climbed up their from my garden when I came back from a walk at night. I called her over, she rubbed her gums on me and then I picked her up out of the tree.

She was very hungry and almost threw up from eating too fast and too much. Was purring so loud she was like a motorbike. Glued to my side.

I ended up giving her to my dad's friend last evening.

Poor thing freaks out when I leave her to go to work. My parents said she was too loud. So made me get rid of her. I wanted to though, as I thought it would be the best for her to be inside with people and my parents won't allow that here. So now she has that with someone else.

Until I have my own space and can have one indoors, I won't be having one anytime soon.

If I hadn't gone out in my neighbourhood at night to see if a barrier was down, I wouldn't have found her. Very lucky I got her back. Especially on fireworks night and a road not to far.

I'm gonna stick with my rabbits, they are comfortable outside and are not effected mentally. They see the hutch as a safe place (even hopping in themselves).

Lost dog

So about a weak ago this little dog showed up near my house. Now my family leaves out in the country. Like forests and dears and things. and this is a little bichon frise fancy pup. Well, it took a little while but today we caught him! He has a collar but no tags (He’s so dirty and has been wondering for so long he probs lost them) and this is obs someone’s little lap baby.

As soon as my dad gets home we are going to get him to the vet to see if he has a Microchip. Fingers crossed he does and we can get him back to his home!

10 years ago, I lost my beloved cat Yami. And when I did, my mum took me to Keighley cat care, to adopt another one. I found a beautiful 12 month old long haired cat called Angel and fell in love.

But 3 weeks later, she disappeared. I was heart broken. In pieces.

So imagine my shock when my mum gets a call today to say that she has been found! Safe and well looked after.

Turns out a woman had found her, and instead of taking her to get checked for a chip, decided to keep her to herself. And now can no longer keep her.

I'm relieved... And angry. Because that was my pet! I'd just lost my cat that I'd raised from a kitten, and given my heart to a new one, only for someone to take her away, leaving me heartbroken!

DON'T STEAL PEOPLE'S PETS! If you find a lost cat, please, for the love of God, get them checked! Because you don't know who could be missing them!
