Yesterday after work, I got to see Amanda! We met up outside the Postal Museum and headed to Adams Morgan to meet her friend Emma at Smoke and Barrel (a fancy and delicious beer and barbecue place). I got a loaded baked potato with a side of fries, because their fries looked amazing, and there is no better meal than potatoes with potatoes.
Today was absolutely the perfect DC day. It was in the mid-fifties with a light rain. I woke up in the morning, showered, ate, got ready, and headed to Walmart with my roommate and our housemate Luke. Finally got my air filter and real groceries. We trekked home. (Blessings upon Luke for helping me carry everything; my right wrist is still good for nothing.) At home, I made lunch out of last night's leftovers (and still was left with more!), watched a little Gossip Girl, called my dad to wish him happy birthday, and then headed out. I took my camera with me, because everything is gorgeous in this rainy weather. I was headed off to meet Amanda, Leslie, Ev, Ivan, and Catherine at the Air and Space Museum, but I stopped frequently along the way to take pictures. We did the museum, and then we were off to District Taco (which was delicious and also gave me MORE leftovers). After food and loitering, I took my first ever metro ride! Ev and Leslie helped me get a fare pass, and Leslie and I road back to Union together. Leslie had awhile to kill before her train left, and I need a blazer, so we bummed around the shops a bit before saying goodbye. As I parted from Leslie and prepared to head home, I stumbled upon the very beginning of a free National Symphony Orchestra concert in a small venue in the station. I stood in the back for a few minutes, but they were so good I couldn't leave, so I ended up taking an open seat in one of the back rows. It was absolutely incredible. As I was walking home, I ended up talking to (and walking almost all the way back to my house with) one of NSO's violin players. We had a great chat, and I'm a bit sad I didn't get her name or contact information. (And it was great not to have to walk home alone.) Once home, I joined Emilia, Hailey, Michelle, Luke, and Dylan to watch Ferris Bueller's Day Off and Alien.
