1. “You don't need nobody else, but me.” 8. “Why are you doing this to me?” // Was this the jealousy kicking in when Eight begins to ramble about a rainbow eyed man?
~~~
He looked at you. These rainbow eyes, and the room twirled all around you. You felt weak for a moment, forgetting about everything around you, everything and anything as the man smiled looking at you, raising his glass towards you. You blushed. What a handsome man.
Gunshot. In front of your stupid face. A bullet. A noise and people already running all around because of the great noise. You looked up, Two. She made you blink, and scolded you with one look. You almost screwed the thing up, because of one guy, because of one look. Was it all worth it? The man's smile as you took your gun from the purse to follow Two made everything worth it. His unimpressed face, and that bloody smile and you almost ran into his arms to kiss him. Both of you toyed with each other during the whole evening, and that wasn't enough. It would never be. But you would never see him again, part of Ghost's life you thought, going upstairs and catching yourself watching down, the man looking up, sending you a kiss as you send him a kiss back. If this wasn't Romeo and Juliet worthy, you could die.
But Four's eye didn't find it as amusing as you did, looking trough the binoculars, on the opposite building, as you blew a kiss to this man. He felt an ache in his heart. A numb pain going right into his guts as you smiled back while looking at that man. Both of you said no strings attached when you began to have this special bond, sacred bond, making out, making love, making fool of yourselves... Everybody knowing it, but both of you were unproblematic about this, so nobody complained. But you never spoke about exclusivity of this “relationship”, which probably became an issue, right at that moment.
“You don't need nobody else, but me,” he whispered, looking at you through the binoculars, being sure to not turn on the microphone.
Four felt afraid, thought that the relationship you had could be broken at any moment, by anyone. But quickly, he had to think about a way to get you out of there, as Two and you began to fight against the guards on the second floor. The blood rush and the adrenaline made him forget about this unpleasant moment, and what soothed him even more was the kiss you gave him when you went out the building, running softly your fingers through his hair.
You couldn't really understand why your Effy began to be distant with you. You noticed how his hand sometimes stopped delicately stroking your hair when both of you were watching a movie, and you made a comment, a useless comment about something you didn't even care about, and he would stop, how his smiled sometimes faded when you opened your mouth to recall something or how he rolled his eyes when you sighed for something. But the subjects never really mattered, so the only thing you saw was his reaction to your words. And it began to hurt, slowly but surely.
This feeling of possession began to eat him alive. Four couldn't control himself when you started to talk about that night, the infamous night on which that guy didn't flinch when you took your gun out of your purse to begin your mission, and how he made heart eyes when he saw you and how he blew you a kiss. Wanker. Nothing him, Four, couldn't do for you. He made so much more, and yet, the only thing on your mind seemed to be this man. This man. That man. That wanker. That nobody. On your mind. And his shining rainbow eyes, and the wink he gave you. Four wanted to throw up when he heard your happiness about this man, especially when you were together, watching a movie, your head against his chest as you were giggling about something he said to you, and then, suddenly he appeared. Again. And Four's mood was ruined. He began to rot from the inside, not wanting to let you know what he felt. But it became uncontrollable.
The moment you realized something was off, it was too late, he stopped calling you Titi. He stopped hugging you from behind and laying gentle kisses on your neck when you were making a sandwich in the shared kitchen. He stopped casting you glances. He stopped inviting you in his trailer for anything, for movies, to make out, to make love. For anything. And recently, he refused to hold your hand, as you squeezed it gently during a meeting. He let you go. And that began to hurt. To hurt so badly. Where did your Effie go? Who this new Four was?
“What's wrong Effy,” you finally managed to ask him, as everybody left the room and he was about to.
“Nothing, this meeting was so boring I just can't,” he began to say, as if he wanted to change the subject but you wouldn't let him. Not this time.
“It's not the meeting, it's me, right,” you asked, looking at him. You could feel the ache in your heart, but you didn't want to show it to him. No labels. Nothing serious just... A friendship,with benefits. But here, there was no friendship anymore. Nothingness.
“Don't be so ridiculous, Eight...”
“Why are you doing this to me,” you asked, bursting now. You looked him right in the eyes, glistening eyes on him.
“Why are you doing this to me,” he emphasized on the you. As if you knew what was wrong, as if you were the problem here.
“You're not the same since that mission,” you remarked, trying to not lose your composure.
“Neither are you.”
“Effy, for the love of god and our sacred bond,” you began, and he rolled his eyes before crossing his arms on his chest, “tell me.”
“There is nothing to say,” he replied looking at you, mouth tipped now.
“There is a shit ton of things to say, Effy!”
“Yeah, I noticed how much you had to say about this rainbow eyed wanker, blowing kisses and stuff, how romantic.” And then, it struck you.
“Effy you are... Jealous?”
“Fuck you Eight,” he snapped, caught apparently off guard.
“I'm trying to have a conversation with you Effy because I miss you, I miss my sacred bond partner,” you said, on the verge of crying. “I don't want to lose you, as a friend, as a partner, as anything, okay? I don't want to lose you.”
“I'm... Sorry, Titi,” he admitted his arms resting now against his sides. “I'm... I'm so stupid, it just got on my nerves and... I didn't know how to react and it seemed the right thing to do... It frustrates me so much, he frustrates me so much... I just can't stand hearing about him,” he revealed to you.
“Effy, you should have said that to me, I would have stopped right away,” you whispered.
“I thought you liked him more that you like me,” he looked at his shoes, ashamed as you came up to him.
“Effy, he's just an adventure I had, there was nothing, he was just something I enjoy talking about for no reason, but he will never be more important to me than you are Effy, understood,” you asked as he nodded and you put a kiss on his cheek. “Great. Besides, I'm never seeing him again, so no fear my lord for our sacred bond, Effy and Titi's bond,” you joked, looking at him fondly.
“I hope so, my lady,” he replied, faintly smiling as he caressed your cheek. “Thank you Titi, for being that nice with me.”
“What I wouldn't do for my Effy, huh,” you hummed, rubbing delicately your cheeks against his hand.
