He took a minute to recognize that Penny was talking, but when he did, he listened closely. His concern grew with every word. He gently pulled away, placing Penny so she was lying down on the couch. He sighed deeply, touching her cheek tentatively.
“Penny...wake up.” He shook her shoulder. “You’re having a bad dream. Penny.” His Eyes were pleading and tired, lips pressing tightly together.
It took Penny a moment to ground herself again. She turned to look at Ted and sighed. “Sorry I just.... ahhhhh.. I don’t know how to put it. I just.. wait. Did I wake you up? I’m sorry! Wait, did I fall asleep on you?! Oh god!” A deep red flush painted her face.
“I-I-I didn’t mean to! I’m so-so sorry! It was late and I should’ve known to have gone to bed I...” She trailed off trying to stumble out a hurried and tense apology, any of her seemingly almost exhausted energy that could’ve been seen before gone, replaced by the girl’s nervousness which you were aware knew no bounds.
