Lamborghini’s SUV, dubbed Urus, was first revealed three years ago at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show. The company has not been completely clear until now if the Lamborghini’s SUV project would see the light of day. But the company’s CEO confirmed that the SUV was never a no-go as the third new production model to be offered by the Italian manufacturer.
According to Stephan Winkelmann, the CEO of Lamborghini, “If we do a third model, then it’s better to have the SUV as this is a growing segment, a more emotional segment, a segment which is very well-distributed in terms of volume all over the planet. And therefore this is a car which is more likely.”
The much anticipated Lamborghini’s SUV has been promised to be a hybrid, but it will maintain the Lamborghini’s signature V12 with tremendous brute power. Although Lamborghini could go for a V8 this time around with an option for diesel as well. The expected launch of Lamborghini’s SUV is going to be 2017.
The Aston Martin’s official announcement of their all-new crossover, DBX, has already raised the stakes in super luxury and luxurious SUV/ Off -Road/ Four-Wheel-Drive market. Let us wait and watch what exotic car manufacturer launches their first SUV that may take the market by storm. Another thing to look out for will be the time when we will finally get to see the concepts into reality.
