had to fucking go off-beta to post this piece of shit so, guide;
italics is red, italic-bold is vio, and both bolds are green and blue, but blue doesnt talk in this one so its all good and just green this time
Four doesn't make friends easily. Neither does Hyrule.
So, naturally, when left alone, they admittedly don't do much.
Hyrule can't start conversations, and Four can't drag them out.
In other words—they suck at this whole 'social' thing
Four let out a gentle hum, sketching on some paper while Hyrule sat next to him.
The others went out to explore Four's era, and Four trusts them to not get themselves killed, so he didn't go with them.
Hyrule chose to stay with Four.
He didn't say why, he just said he didn't feel like exploring...
Which is still weird...Rulie loves exploring!
Maybe he's just tired today?
We could always ask.
Oh! Good idea Vivi!
"Hey, Rule?"Four glanced up, staring at the traveller with curious red eyes.
Hyrule seemed to shiver before he smiled. "Yeah, Four?"
"Are you feeling okay?"
A pause.
A long, long pause which had Hyrule opening and closing his mouth wordlessly, before he sighed and admitted defeat. "Sort of."
"You're..sort of okay?"
"...yeah."
"Hyrule. What does that even mean."Four blinked, eyes focusing on Hyrule, confused.
"I'm both perfectly fine and I'm not at the same time."
"Oh."Four whistled, turning back to his sketchbook. "Wanna elaborate on that?"
"No."Hyrule stated bluntly. "But I will."
Four nodded, motioning for the other to continue as he went back to work.
"Is there something about me that you don't like?"Hyrule breathed out, fiddling with his sleeves. "You talk to the others, you have fun with them—hell, you and Legend are attached some days—but...you never talk to me. Did I do something wrong?"
Four went quiet, hand stilling as he processed what Hyrule just said.
'Did I do something wrong?' Shadow had asked when he found Vio about to shatter the mirror. 'I didn’t mean to…what did I do?'
Vio hadn't responded to him.
Four frowned, gently placing his hand on Hyrule's shoulder. "Rule, you didn't do anything. I promise. We just...don't really know what to talk about. We're—We're very different people, y'know? We don't have a lot in common...I don't think."
Hyrule frowned, and nodded. "Well—we don't know that. We've never really talked, so how will we know if we have things in common or not?"
"...ah. You have a point."Four admitted, placing his sketchbook aside and turning to Hyrule. "Wanna play a game?"
"Huh? Oh. Sure..? What is it?"
"Ten questions! Usually it's twenty, but I don't have the mental capacity to think of twenty."Four joked, causing Hyrule to laugh. "It's exactly how it sounds. We ask each other ten questions each and the other answers. It'll help us get to know each other! Wanna go first?"
"Sure! Um.."Hyrule glanced around, thinking, before his eyes landed on Four's hand. "What happened to your finger?"
"Hm? Oh!"Four blinked, holding up his hand.
His middle finger stops at the middle, and it's always wrapped up in a bandage.
He never explained it..
"I...had an accident. Lost half of that finger. Neat, huh??"
"No."
"Ah—"Four blinked, shaking his head. "Um. What's with your ears being green at the tips?"
"Oh, it's a magic imprint is all."It's not the truth, but it's not really a lie.
Four nodded, tilting his head as his eyes seemed to switch through different colours.
"Why do your eyes do that?"Hyrule blurted out, startling Four a bit.
"Hm?"
"Your eyes. They change colour."
Shit, he noticed, we're screwed.
Four shrugged gently. "It's just the light."
"The light can't make eyes go from red to purple."Hyrule pointed out.
Four knows he can see the hesitation. "Um—new idea."Four laughed nervously. "I tell you my biggest secret, one that only Legend knows, and you tell me one of yours. Call it a trust exercise."
Hyrule paused, considering it.
Four is willing to tell him something that he's only told Legend? That in itself is wonderful.
...but is it worth it?
"Okay,"Hyrule decides it is. "Okay. You first."
Four took a breath. "My sword is magic. It splits me into four seperate people. Their names are Red, Blue, Green and Vio, and that's why my eyes change colours. I assume you can assign the colours to the eye colour?"
"Vio...is that a shade of purple?"
"Violet is, yes."
"Oh."Hyrule paused, then beamed at Four. "Thank you for trusting me enough to tell me! I guess it's my turn, um..."He trailed off, swallowing any fear he had.
Gently, he uncovered his hand, and held it out to Four with a wicked grin as he displayed his biggest secret to the smithy.
"I have the entire triforce on my hand."
