just trying to figure this out...
1st person is me or us
2nd person is you
3rd person is anyone who isn't me or you (him, her, them, it)
so what is left for 4th person? beings that cannot exist? That still feels like a 3rd person. Beings that cannot be referred to? Not "shouldn't" but linguistically cannot be referred to.
Ok, yeah, 4th person is "beings that cannot be referred to".
If you try to talk about such a being then you fail to.
do linguists already have a 4th person definition?
Writers, what is your favorite point of view to write from?
First-Person
Second-Person
Third-Person
Fourth-Person
Just a poll out of curiosity. This is optional, but also mention what type of narration from the picked option. For example, if third-person is selected, one can pick from omniscient, limited, and/or objective.
Me personally, although I have only posted one fanfic of this perspective online, my favorite is definitely first-person. I'm a very introspective and analytical person, so I like to write while wearing the protagonist's shoes. With that said, most of my stories are in third-person. I've started with third-person omniscient but have moved on to third-person limited. I still have a lot to improve on in that category (and writing, in general), but that makes it all the more interesting.
Nonetheless, I am interested to see how many participate and what the results will be. Also, re-blogging this poll would be very much appreciated although it is not necessary.
one more person sends me an ask about my pronouns on firefox and i sue
what pronouns do you use to refer to yourself in your internal monologue?
first person (i, me, my, etc.)
second person (you, your, etc.)
third person (she/he/they/whatever your pronouns are, your name, etc.)
fourth person (we, us, ours, etc.)
at least two of those options
no internal monologue/show results
