ohhhh my god, iron flame is even worse
i was really hoping for an answer in this book to the one central, pivotal question that desperately needs to be answered. and it did not come
at this point, it's been almost 1,200 pages. i have to ask.
what. are they telling. the civilians
the war with the gryphons should easily be over by now. it's clear dragons are the superior fighters. it's clear Navarre is bigger than Poromiel. this is a war that has been going on for SEVERAL HUNDRED YEARS.
what excuse is the military giving for why they suck so hard they have not managed to eliminate this threat yea??
we know, as the audience, they haven't managed to win because the real villains are infinitely harder to beat than gryphons but what are they telling the CITIZENS OF NAVARRE
i waited the whole first book for it to mention even ONCE what the regular people think about this war, how long it's been going on, why an inferior force is so able to keep fighting for years and years and years without being eventually overwhelmed. when it didn't come in the first book, i thought surely it would have to come in the second one
no. no answer. are these people all just stupid? are none of them wondering why their military can't just merc these nerds and their gryphons? are they not ANGRY with the leadership that can't get it together and win this already??
how are they keeping up a lie this fucking big that is, presumably, affecting nearly every aspect of these people's lives?? there does not seem to be a government disconnected from the military. this country is so thoroughly entrenched in war that the military IS the government. THOUSANDS of children go off to WAR COLLEGE every year. dozens to hundreds of them die in that college
so what is the military TELLING EVERYBODY?
this is basic, this is so, so basic, this is the central premise of the whole series, that the face-value war is a lie, but HOW ARE THEY JUSTIFYING THIS LIE??
i want to bite my way through a plaster wall, this is SO frustrating
My library coworkers are reading ACOTAR so I bit the bullet and read it too.
And to preface this, I am asexual and biromantic and just
Too queer for hetero nonsense
And we’ve already done this song and dance with Fourth Wing. I wrote a cinema-sins list while reading Fourth Wing, it made me that angry.
But A Court of Thorns and Roses has been around a while, so there are things I just know while not knowing anything at all
So imagine me, reading this book, seeing the Beauty and the Beast trappings with a guy who is definitely not the Rhysand I hear all about and having to spend 200+ pages dealing with 1) what seems like a very slow paced, but reasonable B&B romance so therefore 2) what the fuck happens that she dumps the Beast for a total asshole???
Well, I finished acotar which means its time to find out why and I just know
because a certain Rebecca Yarros doesn’t have original ideas and I’ve picked up that Rhysand is not the complete dickhead he portrays himself as
That this is about to be a very drawn out Xaden vs Dain dick measuring contest and I am
Too gay for this shit. If I am right and there is not something to keep me invested? I am bowing the fuck out.
I did just text them all that Fourth Wing is just bad ACOTAR fanfiction, and I await their response.
