The Fourth of July....
A reminder that the 4th of July isn’t about the military and “thank you for your service.”
(There are other holidays for that specifically, and I know some see patriotic displays as a huge part of Independence Day celebrations)
But this really honors a day not when shots were fired, but when pen was put to paper. It honors ideas. It honors everyday people standing up and saying “No more.”
It honors a revolution.
Personal freedom, equality and a turning point going towards progressive change is how I’ve seen this day in the past. I’d like this to be how I continue to see this day, but some change needs to happen.
For the better.
