Today I had a partner on my continuing exploration of the city, @melissa_early joined me for Fourth Ward. Now I know you’re thinking, ‘Third comes after Second’, but we jumped ahead because it was the @friendsoffourthward Secret Gardens tour weekend. Fourth Ward is represented at Trade and Tryon by COMMERCE (you know so because Alan Greenspan’s face is on the lower portion). Fourth Ward is an amazing anomaly where a skyscraper and a 100 year old home can exist 1 block apart. We toured private gardens today (that view of the city from your very own backyard would be spectacular). Forth Ward has the buildings too (clockwise from upper right: The Vue, Skyhouse, Fifth Third, Odell and Avenue) from residences in the sky (including that rare look at the city from The Vue’s 50th floor - I see you, Fahrenheit, with your 24 story view. If you looking closely in the first skyline image you can see the Bojangle’s Arena down Independence Blvd.). Included in Fourth Ward is the Settler’s Cemetery, final resting place of our founder Thomas Polk. I spent two days gathering these images, and ran out of room before I even got to mention Discovery Place, Ray’s Splash Planet, Elmwood Pinewood Cemetery, or the Avid Xchange Music Factory; Fourth Ward has it all! #exploreclt #walkcharlotte #fofw #thequeencity #thevue #skyhouse #fourthwardpark #odellbuilding #fourthward (at Fourth Ward, Charlotte)
