Back into it with Tazzie today after our huge week here on the farm 💕 . Gotta say, this little lady is becoming known as 'miss reliable' around here! I've ridden her in all weather, with or without distractions going on, and she just gets on with it. She has such a brilliant work ethic!👌 . We'll be stepping her workload up next week in preparation to start finding her a great new home. I'll be so sad to see her go, but so proud and happy at the same time to cheer her on and support her new family 🙏 Our focus going forward is going to be improving rhythm, balance, and getting her sharper off the leg. Maybe even a few fun poles sessions, too. . I'm so genuinely excited for this girls future, I'm such a huge fan of this sweet little soul and can't wait to follow her journey. Yesterday my little orange mate went back home to her owner 💕 . What an awesome journey we had while she was here; going from a shy little girlie who wasn't very sure of me, to a brave little superstar who became my best little buddy 🙏 . I can confidently swallow my pride and say she changed my mind on lots of things - my opinions on mares, chestnuts, Arabs, and even Arab chestnut mares! 😂🙌 . Even though she wasn't too sure of me to begin with, she genuinely tried every step of the way, and I felt like she worked with me to cross everything off the list; groundwork, getting caught better, dealing with a fly mask better, sensitising and desensitising, accepting tack, learning to lunge, and eventually accepting a rider 😍👌 . When the ridden education started, I found that her work ethic made her such a genuine joy to ride. The harder I worked, the harder she worked, and she progressed quite quickly as a result. Wind, rain, thunder in the background - not much bothered her! Walk, trot and canter was established early on, leg yields in all three gaits, transitions within the gait, starting to soften in contact, sharing the arena with another horse, and she even looked after a young rider in a lesson. What's more, she did it all without any naughtiness or sillies whatsoever at any point 💎 . Absolutely loving life at the moment with our new additions - the place is finally starting to feel like a working horse property 😍🏇 . Our days now comprise of morning checks; breakfast for the off the track boys, hay to everyone, water top ups, mucking out, and rugs off as needed. At least 2 usually get worked, one's getting medicine and wounds dressed, and 3 days a week I'm teaching! 💪😁 Afternoons are the same again - feeds, waters, hay, rugs, and any other odd jobs that need tending to 🐎 . Today after working Bonesy we snuck lunch in, did some harrowing and a paddock re-shuffle, and with my last free hour I got Tazzie out for a flatwork session which she absolutely smashed 💕 . She's such a cool little lady, at the moment we're working on improving her transitions between trot to canter, and having a play with transitions within the trot which has been loads of fun. She's quite sensitive without being silly, so its been easy to teach her a few nifty tricks. . Next week we'll get the dressage markers out and have a play with a few tests - should be loads of fun! 💕 . Hey everyone, hope you're all staying safe with this scary virus about! 🙏💕 . We've had a REALLY exciting week here at KRequestrian which I'll spill about in the coming days - but in the meantime here's a few pics of Tazzie's first Drill Day! 🌟 . One of the things I do with young horses before they go out, is run a few drills of things they may encounter out in the big bad world 😁 . 1 - Working quietly with another horse and rider going around ✔️ 2 - Coping with another horse getting in the way, cutting us off, running up from behind and head on - typical warm up ring stuff! ✔️ 3 - Working with scary/noisy distractions going on (including screaming kids) ✔️ 4 - Working nicely with a different rider on board ✔️ . I'm honestly so proud of this little horse, and I think she'll be a brilliant pony clubber! The next step would have been taking her off property, but with the COVID-19 lockdown that isn't possible unfortunately. Instead I'll keep working her at home and exposing her to as much as possible, riding her in other areas of our property and stuff like that - she'll only get better and better! . HUGE thank you to Dakota for being my guinea pig - you rode her so well, I was absolutely stoked with you both 🙏💕 . Hey everyone, hope you're all safe and well! 🙏💕 . Today we made the most of being stuck at home and had a super productive day. We started off with checking waters, doing a tidy up outside, and fixing a fence (thanks Polka! 🤦‍♀️) . I gave a lesson in the morning (which I'll post a pic of later because she did so well 😍), threw hay to everyone, and cleaned some gear. After lunch we braved the weather and got Tazzie out, and she went SO beautifully for me 💕 . I focused on keeping her in a steadier rhythm, and we did lots of changes of direction, and transitions. Her canter has improved so much - she's gone from Pepe le pew to rocking horse 😂👌 She's such a pleasure to ride, and proving to be really reliable, straight forward, fun, and safe... If she was a bit bigger, she wouldn't be leaving! . Another private lesson and training ride booked for tomorrow, really looking forward to both! 😍🙏 . Today was another great day for Miss Tazzie! 💕 . We started off on the lunge in the arena paddock to warm her up - Jay running around flapping a canvas rug in the background! My instructions to him were 'could you be a massive, annoying, noisy pain in the ass while I'm working this horse please' - and massive, annoying, noisy pain in the ass he was! 😂👌 . We do this sort of thing with her quite often, as she's a fairly sensitive horse who tends to get distracted quite easily. I still ask for all of the same things - transitions, changes of direction, disengagement, etc but she has to focus on me, and do it with the occasional dose of chaos in the background! 💣💥 . The ride itself was brilliant - she was soft and forward, no sillies, and just an honest pleasure to sit on. It was quite windy here today, canvas rugs flapping on the gates, and she just rolled on and wasn't bothered by anything. 💕 So super proud of this girl, she genuinely tries so hard and is making so much progress - can't wait to jump back on and do more with her! . What a gorgeous day we had in the Valley today! 💕 Our poor girl Ella brought a cold home from kindy, so of course the whole house is now feeling a bit blah - perfect excuse to get outside for a little fresh air and vitamin D though!☀️😍 . Miss Tazzie came in for some groundwork and desensitising as I didn't feel up to riding, and she knocked it out of the ballpark as usual 💪 I'm so impressed with this little girl, she's matured so much in the last couple of months and I'm so proud of her! . Today we also had a look at her gear, measured her back and changed the gullet in her saddle, and even let her bridle down a hole. It's so important to keep an eye on these things with a horse in work, especially when they're growing. A comfortable horse is usually a happy horse! 👌 . Will be another sunny day tomorrow, so hopefully we all feel better in the morning to work both horses! #motivated 💪😁 .
