Empress Viola, Volpina, And A Girl Named Lila

What If Gabriel Agreste didn’t have the Butterfly Miraculous? What if Master Fu had lost the Fox Miraculous as well? What if Lila had both of them?

In this prompt, Gabriel Agreste isn’t the villain in Paris creating Akumas that terrorize the people. Instead, it is Lila; who is creating Akumas before using her other Miraculous to defeat them.

Lila has been living a triple life for a while now. In every city she moved to because of her mom’s work, new villains would appear, and a hero to fight them. Her hero persona Volpina is semi-internationally famous because of this plan. She thought it was perfect as she got to use her hero persona’s fame to boost her own in her civilian identity.

However, that all changed when she and her mom moved to Paris, where Master Fu could sense the Butterfly’s activation. When Master Fu senses this, he sends out the Ladybug and Black Cat Miraculous. Volpina is no longer the only hero around to fight the Akumas.

Because the Ladybug Miraculous can repair any damage to the city, she’ll likely quickly become more popular than Volpina. So, Lila’s plans run the risk of going up in smoke. The fact that other heroes are around now meant that she’s at the risk of being discovered, and she needs to create a plan to get rid of them before that happens. Especially since Master Fu and Marinette eventually make more heroes besides Ladybug and Cat Noir.

This is basically my designs for Butterfly-Lila and a Butterfly/Fox-Fusion from my story, On the Wings of Change, both named Iris.

For this story, Lila is the main villain from the start instead of Gabriel, finding and misusing the Miraculous for her own gains instead of for an actual cause. At first Iris tries to pull a Syndrome and use her Akumas to create villains that she would then "fight", making herself seem like a hero to the public who don't realise that she's actually the one behind the Akumas. So, Iris' Butterfly costume is slightly generic-magical girl inspired, with design aspects such as a big bow, Iris trying to look the part, but I didn't go all out with frills and stuff since that wouldn't suit Lila.

Though, in the story, Iris spends most of her time in the fused costume after getting hold of the Fox Miraculous, the first through chapters skipping through Iris’ initial tenure where she was just the Butterfly.

I was originally not proud of this design due to just how much the purple and orange clashed, and how the Volpina part of the design felt too dominant. But, after seeing the fashion disaster that is Shadow Moth, I've decided that villains fusing Miraculous just get bad costumes as a way of the Kwamis rebelling.

Wow, after re-reading the part with Lila and Monarque showing up in Chapter 30-31, then looking back at Chapter 14-15 with Chloe Miraged to look like Monarque... I'm amazed at the reread value. Well played. 👏👏👏👏👏

How indestructible are Volpina's illusions anyway? Ladybug could kill Chloe while she's under the Monarque illusion, so Volpina's illusions can't be broken easily by touch like it does in canon... What does it take to break her illusions? If it's not too spoilery...

odnlb volpina's power up is to illuse all your senses, not just sight or sound. her power affects your brain, gets all up in there and makes you experience something that actually isn't real. so in order to break it, you'd have to ruin your own senses. that or just destroy her flute.

For my story On the Wings of Change, which, as you can clearly see, has Lila as the villain with both the Butterfly and Fox Miraculous. This is just a rough idea of what Iris, both just the Butterfly and the fusion with the Fox, would look like in my story. I'm uneasy about the fusion design, as it was difficult trying to balance what aspects from my Butterfly design and what aspects from Volpina to include. And it looks too much like Volpina with the butterfly elements added.
