Marinette is currently standing in the bakery shop, setting out all the display desserts for when they open. As she sets them up, she can't help thinking about what she and her father talked about. It doesn't help that each item she's putting out is connected to the group: Rocky Eclairs, Ninja Macaroons, Element Cake, Ladybug Cinnamon Rolls, and Black Cat Crêpes.
Before putting that last item in its display spot, Marinette finds herself staring at it with a conflicted expression, biting her lip.
"I'd like to go and visit them. But I can't do that without hurting Adrien more than I already have." Marinette can't help but think to herself as she tries to figure out how to handle this situation.
With a sigh, she places the item on the display and prepares to put others in. As she does, she takes a moment to pause and look at the bakery window. It's been a while since any of them visited the shop.
"Maybe Adrien finally told them about what I did." She can't help but mentally chuckle before moving back to the displays.
It wouldn't surprise her if they stopped coming because of that. Honestly, she'd be amazed if Adrien told them from the start and they still came.
She's soon brought out of her thoughts by two strong thuds, causing her to look up and see Shard and Rocky land in front of their shop. She immediately stops putting the displays in and runs over to the front doors as Zane and Cole drop down.
"What are you guys doing here? We're not open yet. We haven't had enough time to prepare everything." She tells the two in surprise.
"We are not here for sweets this time, Marinette," Zane explains before Cole cuts in.
"Wellllll, I wouldn't say that," Cole states as he peeks over Marinette to see what's currently out.
"Sensei said no sweets for breakfast." Zane reminds him, causing Cole's shoulders to slump.
"Man." He groans in defeat.
Marinette looks between the two in confusion for a moment before finally settling on Zane.
"Then why are you guys here? I don't know if we have anything else you might want." Marinette warns them, causing Zane to shake his head.
"That's incorrect. You see, we came to ask for your help." Zane reveals, causing Marinette's eyes to widen.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa! Why are you asking me for help? I quit, remember?" Marinette asks while waving her arms in alarm.
"Is everything alright out there, Marinette?" Sabine's voice rings from the back.
"Everything's fine, Mom!" Marinette calls back before leaning toward the ninja.
"I gave my Miraculous to Nya, remember. I can't help you fight against whatever you're dealing with, even if I wanted to join you." She whispers to the duo to ensure her parents don't hear.
"We are not asking you to join us to fight," Zane tells her, causing Marinette to blink in confusion.
"Then why are you guys here? Do you need help learning how to bake?" Marinette questions with a raised eyebrow, causing Cole to wave his hand dismissively.
"Nah. That's not why," Cole tells her before Zane cuts in.
"Although I wouldn't mind learning how to bake better. Your family's baking is quite delicious." Zane compliments her, causing Marinette to smile.
"Yeah. It's the only reason they managed to rebuild everything." She tells them with a slightly proud but guilty smile.
"Anyway, before we get into that, we're renovating the new place we're going to be using as a base," Cole explains to Marinette, catching the girl off guard.
"You're moving? What happened to the monastery?" She asks worriedly, hoping it's nothing too bad.
"Wellllll." Cole starts before Zane explains in a neutral tone.
"It was destroyed while the Hypnobrai were retrieving their staff after we destroyed a base the Hypnobrai were trying to build," Zane states, causing Marinette's jaw to drop.
"What!?" Marinette shouts in alarm, causing Tom and Sabine to run out of the kitchen in a hurry, wooden paddles in hand.
"What's happening?" Tom asks in worry before seeing the ninja.
"Oh, welcome! We haven't seen you in a while. Is everything okay?" Tom asks warmly as he and his wife walk over to the trio.
"Everything's fine now. We ran into some trouble, but everything's fixed now." Cole promises them with a smile.
"Yes. We were just wondering if Marinette would be willing to help us work on something." Zane states calmly, causing Marinette to panic.
"I don't think this is a good idea," Marinette tells everyone before Tom puts a hand on her shoulder and smiles at the ninja.
"Nonsense. This is the perfect chance for you to thank them for all their help." Tom tells his daughter proudly.
"And it would be good for you to get out of the bakery more." Sabine agrees with her husband, giving the ninja a thankful smile.
"We'll be glad to let Marinette help you, boys. Do you want anything for the road?" Sabine asks with a welcoming smile.
"Oh, I'd love-" Cole starts before Zane puts a hand to his mouth.
"No thank you. Sensei Wu does not allow us to eat sweets for breakfast." He tells them, causing Cole to slouch in disappointment again.
"That's too bad. But feel free to take Marinette with you." Sabine says before looking at her daughter.
"We can handle the shop without you. We've been doing it for years." She tells her daughter with a smile.
Marinette stares at her parents in shock before looking at the ninja. Finally, she slumps as she realizes there's no way to get out of this and makes her way toward Rocky, hugging his snout to muffle her cries.
"I believe this is her screaming in excitement," Zane states as the four watch Marinette's actions.
-------------------
Marinette now has a tired and displeased expression as she flies on Rocky with Cole.
"Why are you guys dragging me along with this? Hasn't Adrien told you about what I did?" Marinette can't help but call out to the duo as they fly.
"Oh, yeah. He told us all about how bad you were." Cole tells her while looking at Marinette.
"Then why are you dragging me with you? Don't you think it's a bad idea for me and him to be in the same room?" Marinette can't help but ask.
"Because we actually need the help setting everything up so that we can be ready for the Serpentine. And you're the only other pair of hands we know." Cole explains.
"Aside from that, you are also someone who was part of our group," Zane explains as Shard flies next to Rocky.
"Yeah. But I quit. Specifically, so Adrien and I wouldn't have to see each other, and we can keep living our lives in peace." Marinette reminds the duo.
"True. But that doesn't mean we can't ask for your help when we need it. Besides, this will help you too." Cole adds, causing Marinette to raise an eyebrow.
"How can this possibly help me?" Marinette demands.
"You're helping us set up our new base. That will make things go quicker. Which means we can try to stop them faster. That means you'll be less likely to need to help more in the future." Cole explains with a grin.
"Aside from that. It's quite clear that you feel guilty for what you did. So, we believe it's okay to trust you to help us with this." Zane explains in a logical tone, causing Marinette to groan.
"I still don't like this. Just don't let me near Adrien." Marinette pleads with the duo.
"Don't worry. We're keeping you separated." Cole promises before they finally reach a point where Marinette can see the ship.
"Whoa," Marinette says in amazement as she stares at the ship.
In the time the heroes found it, they did amazing work with renovations. They've pulled it out of the sand, cleaned and repainted the outside, and even changed the sails while keeping the wing shape. It looks practically brand new. There's even a giant anchor on the front left side.
"Cool, huh. Zane found it. We're calling it Destiny's Bounty." Cole reveals to Marinette.
The dragons soon land, but something seems off about them. They seem to collapse from exhaustion.
"What's wrong with them?" Marinette asks in concern as she grabs Rocky's snout.
"Don't know," Cole asks, looking at Rocky in worry.
"Perhaps carrying the furniture was too much for them," Zane suggests.
"They lugged their stuff from the monastery over here pretty well." Cole points out before taking an old sofa off Rocky's back.
"You might want to watch them more," Marinette warns as she grabs a lamp.
"What? Are we supposed to take them to a vet?" Cole jokes.
"I'm pretty sure a veterinary facility will be underequipped to handle an animal of their size," Zane states as he grabs two tied-up chairs.
"It's a joke, Zane. We've still gotta work on that." Cole tells his friend.
The three walk up the plank set for easy access and carry the items on the deck.
"So, where do you want them?" Marinette asks.
"We can probably put the sofa in the break room. It'd be nice to have an extra couch since there are so many of us." Cole states, leaning on the sofa.
"We can put these with the dining room," Zane suggests while raising the chairs.
"And I'm pretty sure the lamp can go in our room," Cole states while pointing at Marinette's item.
"You guys are sharing a room?" Marinette asks in surprise.
"Yeah. Not enough room. The five of us are sharing a room like it's a military camp." Cole states.
"Yikes," Marinette says.
"I can show you to the bedroom, Marinette," Zane says before grabbing the chairs.
-------------------
Meanwhile, Jay, Adrien, and Plagg are working on the ship's generator. Surprisingly, an old generator was already on the ship.
"Man, this thing is a piece of junk," Jay states as he looks the object over.
"I mean, so was the rest of the ship before we started working on it." Adrien points out.
"Yeah. But this thing is a real piece of junk. We've definitely gotta upgrade this." Jay tells Plagg and Adrien while working on some wires.
"Hey, that'll give you something else to work with Nya on." Adrien jokes, causing Jay to pause before smiling.
"True!" He shouts excitedly as he starts working faster.
"You know, there's still something familiar about this ship. But I can't place my paw on it." Plagg mutters as he looks around at the interior with furrowed brows.
"You've said that every day, Plagg," Adrien tells the Kwami with an amused smile.
"Because it is familiar! I just don't know why!" Plagg screams at his wielder in frustration.
"Speaking of girls, it sounds like the others are back with Marinette." Jay points out, having heard the thud of the dragons landing, causing Adrien to scowl.
"Yeah." He says unhappily.
"Don't worry. She'll only be here for a little while to help us. Don't forget, Sensei Wu wants this place ready as fast as possible. It'll go quicker if we have her help." Jay tells Adrien, causing the boy to sigh.
"You're right. But I still don't like it." He tells Jay, causing the other teen to look up from his work.
"Honestly, I envy you. You've got girls crazy about you." Jay tells Adrien with a grin, causing Adrien to groan.
"It's really not that great. Trust me." Adrien tells him.
"Come on, you can't tell me there weren't a few girls you were interested in. Marinette seems pretty cute. Were you into her before everything?" Jay asks with a grin, causing Adrien to scowl.
"I thought we were friends and that she was just being weird at the start." He tells Jay bitterly.
"Oh, really?" Jay questions, since Adrien usually tries to avoid talking about Marinette.
"Yeah. She was cool. And she didn't even like me at the start because she thought I was bullying her with another girl from our class." Adrien explains, causing Jay's eyes to widen.
"Seriously?" He asks, causing Adrien to nod.
"Yeah. So, I don't know how she went from that to being as obsessed with me as everyone else was." Adrien sighs sadly.
"I just wish I had noticed sooner. Then things might have been different." Adrien tells him while imagining getting to hang out with his old friends.
"Sorry, man. Look on the bright side, you're here." Jay tells him before going back to work, causing Adrien to smile slightly.
But it soon slips off again.
"Yeah. I just wish she wasn't here so I didn't have to worry anymore." Adrien can't help but think.
-------------------
Later, Flame and Wisp fly through the desert toward Destiny's Bounty. Sensei Wu is flying on Wisp while Kai and Nya are riding Flame. On the dragons' bodies are various supplies and food to put on the ship.
"Hopefully, Jay got the power on. Otherwise, Zane is going to be spending the rest of the day keeping these cool." Kai states, motioning to the food Flame's carrying.
Unknown to them, they're not the only ones going through the desert to reach Destiny's Bounty. Below and a decent amount behind them, an old blackish-grey jalopy drives through the desert sand, in the direction of Destiny's Bounty. Inside it are two older-looking people with wrinkled, sun-kissed skin. They're both wearing driving caps to protect them against the sand.
The one driving looks to be a man with a grey goatee and a blue button-up shirt behind grease-stained overalls. Meanwhile, the one next to him looks to be a woman. She's wearing a brown aviator jacket over a purple shirt, black pants, and a brown belt. Keys hang from the belt and shake with every movement of the car.
"Take a note, Edna. Better wheels for the sand." The man says cheerily as he looks to the one beside him.
"Alright, Ed." The woman says in an equally cheery voice as she pulls out a notepad and writes it down.
-------------------
The trio lands to see the other dragons around. When Tikki sees Shard and Rocky, she smiles.
"Marinette must be here!" She says happily before flying into Destiny's Bounty.
"Great," Kai grunts as he grabs the food, his tone seemingly unhappy.
"What's the matter with you?" Nya asks her brother, raising an eyebrow.
"I can't exactly say I'm a fan of her being here after hearing all of Adrien's stories," Kai tells his sister bluntly, causing Sensei Wu to sigh.
"Let us not fight when we're meeting with an old ally." Sensei Wu tells Kai as he hobbles up the plank with his cane while carrying some floorboards.
"Yeah. I'm sure things will be fine, Kai." Nya tells her brother while also wanting to see Marinette again.
Meanwhile, Tikki flies through the ship until she finds Marinette carrying another lamp through the hall.
"Marinette!" Tikki shouts joyously before hugging her former wielder's cheek.
"Hi, Tikki," Marinette says with a smile.
"It's so good to see you again. Have you been doing well?" Tikki asks as she flies in front of Marinette's face, looking at her in concern.
"I've been okay, Tikki. Things have gotten a little better." Marinette promises the Kwami.
"I'm glad. It's great to see you again." Tikki tells Marinette.
"Thanks. I'm glad I can see you again, too." Marinette nods before another voice cuts in.
"Yeah. It's nice to have another girl here." Nya says, appearing around the corner, smiling at Marinette.
"How are you doing, Nya?" Marinette asks the girl, causing Nya to smile.
"Well, you know, as best I can, as the only girl here." Nya jokes with a playful shrug.
"Have you been taking care of Tikki?" Marinette asks, causing Tikki to smile.
"Yep. We've been having a great time." Tikki explains.
"I'm glad. I knew you'd be a good Ladybug." Marinette tells Nya with a smile.
"Well, I'm actually calling myself Corinae," Nya reveals.
"Really?" Marinette asks, causing Nya to nod.
"Yeah. Adrien wanted me to pick a hero name since I'm using a Miraculous." Nya shrugs, her words causing Marinette's smile to dim slightly.
"How is he?" Marinette asks cautiously, causing Nya to rub her head awkwardly.
"I'm not sure I should answer that," Nya tells the other girl, causing Marinette to look down.
Meanwhile, Jay shouts in frustration as he tries to turn the machine on, but it isn't working.
"That's it!" Jay shouts before pulling out his weapon.
"What are you doing?!" Adrien panics as Jay rapidly spins it, firing lightning at the generator.
The lightning seems to jumpstart the generator. The things let out an activating sound as they light up and the gauges move.
In the hallways, all the renovated lights come on. And at the bridge, all the upgraded devices that Jay and Nya worked on turn on, including a large digital map of Ninjago.
"Alright!" Jay shouts victoriously.
"Let's go check it out," Jay tells the other two excitedly before running out.
-------------------
Later, the four ninjas and Adrien find themselves testing out the electricity by playing some video games as Sensei Wu enters the room.
"I see you all are enjoying a break." Sensei Wu states, observing the group.
"Yeah. We made a lot of progress. So, we thought it would be cool to stop for now and rest our minds." Kai tells Sensei Wu.
"There is still much we'll need to do if we want this to become a proper ninja base." Sensei Wu reminds the five.
"Yeah. But we can work on that later. Right now, we should enjoy ourselves." Jay points out.
"Never put off until tomorrow what can be done today." Sensei Wu reminds the five.
"And we're not, Sensei. We'll get back to work later. Everyone deserves a break." Cole reminds his teacher as he keeps focus on the game.
Sensei Wu sighs, knowing the five can take forever to pull themselves away from their game. But doesn't say anything else.
Meanwhile, Marinette is downstairs, going over the ship's kitchen to ensure it's properly stocked and they have everything they'll need to cook.
"It looks like they'll have everything they'll need," Marinette observes as she closes a drawer full of cooking utensils.
As she inspects everything, she hears an engine, causing her to turn to the blinds and see the jalopy crashing into the old items the heroes took out of the ship to make room for their stuff.
"Do they have other people helping?" Marinette asks in confusion.
She then exits the kitchen to find the others.
-------------------
Outside, Ed and Edna stare at the old stuff, with a garage sale sign above it, with grins.
"Take a note, Edna. Either better brakes or a better bumper." Ed tells her chirpily, despite hitting something with the car.
He then sees what he hit and lets out an excited gasp, taking off his goggles and helmet, revealing a full head of grey hair and brown eyes.
"Oh, well, will you look at all this great stuff," Ed says excitedly as he stares at old carpets, pottery, and even an old treasure chest.
"They can't just get rid of it," Ed tells Edna in slight outrage but still cheery.
"We should have brought the trailer, Edna." He tells her as the woman removes her safety gear, revealing a full head of brown hair tied in a bun and red-framed glasses over blue eyes.
"This ain't a flea market, Ed." Edna reminds him sternly.
"We're here for Jay." She adds, but Ed stares at her in confusion.
"What's that?" Ed asks, leaning closer to her and holding a hand near his ear to hear better.
"Did you take the note?" Ed asks, causing Edna to scowl.
"I'm writing it now." She sighs as she scribbles on her notepad, making Ed smile.
"Excuse me!" Marinette calls over as she waves at them from the deck.
"Oh, look, Ed. Someone's here to greet us." Edna smiles as she sees Marinette waving to them.
"I see it, Edna. How you doing there?" Ed shouts back, giving Marinette a friendly wave.
"I'm fine. But can I ask why you guys are here? Do you need me to get someone?" Marinette asks.
"Oh, we're Ed and Edna. We're here to see Jay. Could you get him for us, dear!?" Edna calls back, causing Marinette to nod.
"Sure!"
-------------------
Far away from Destiny's Bounty, Lloyd is on a mission. He wanders through a dark, misty forest known as the Wildwood Forest.
But it isn't the forest itself that Lloyd is searching for.
The young boy soon finds a massive gate leading into a circular graveyard that slowly rises the further in you go, with a massive dead tree at the center.
"It's not scary." Lloyd nervously says as he walks through the gate.
"Uh, maybe just a little." Lloyd quickly backtracks as he stares at the tombstones.
Still, he continues walking forward while trying to cheer himself up.
"I like scary." He tells himself.
"Yeah, that's it." He says, then turns around after believing he heard something behind him.
"I'm the son of the dark lord. I love the dark." Lloyd reminds himself as he slowly reaches the middle of the graveyard.
Feeling more confident, Lloyd turns back around and grins.
"Why, I eat this stuff for breakfast." He adds before turning around again and letting out a scared scream.
The dead tree looks like two disfigured snake heads connected to the same body. When Lloyd flashed his flashlight on it, he thought it was something about to get him. However, the boy soon realizes it's wood and calms down.
"I'm gonna make those Hypnobrai pay for betraying me," Lloyd mutters as he focuses his flashlight on his map, revealing it to be a map of where each Serpentine tomb is.
"I have to find the Fangpyres," Lloyd utters as he looks at part of the map that looks exactly like the graveyard.
"If there's anything a snake doesn't like, it's another snake," Lloyd tells himself as he walks to the center.
"Here, by the mutated tree, I found it!" Lloyd shouts in excitement as he sees a specific slab with two hungry-looking snake head outlines on it.
The slab is just between him and the tree. Lloyd crouches down to it and waves the fog away for a better look. All while grinning.
Soon, the Serpentine will know who their master is, and it will be I." Lloyd promises himself, rising and staring down at the slab.
"Lloyd Garmadon!" Lloyd screams into the air, his voice echoing in the graveyard before lightning and thunder shoot out.
The young boy screams in surprise and fear and quickly crouches back down while covering his head.
Lloyd scowls as he realizes his moment was ruined before deciding to open the tomb. He presses a button he spots in the design. A mechanical sound goes off in the graveyard as the lid falls like a hatch, hanging under the mutated tree.
Before Lloyd even has time to process what's inside, multiple figures jump out of the hole, causing the boy to scream in surprise and fear again. He even drops his flashlight.
Lloyd then hears hissing behind him, causing him to turn around and see that Serpentine are surrounding him. However, they look far different from the Hypnobrai.
If the Hypnobrai look like dark blue cobras, then these Fangpyres look like bright red pythons. Like the Hypnobrai, they all seem to have legs. Some have snake heads. Some have human-like features. Some even have white torsos with red markings or red torsos with white and black markings. But their most notable feature is how all of them have even more pronounced fangs than the Hypnobrai.
But one Fangpyre stands out. Not only because it's the one who slithers up to Lloyd, but because they have a very unique look compared to the rest of the tribe.
The Fangpyre is tall, with a long tail similar to what Slithraa used to have. He's almost completely bright red, with white, bone-like markings running along his front and back, and black markings surrounding some of it. However, that's not the important part. What is important is the fact that this Serpentine has two heads and necks. Around the eyes are light purple markings, and its fangs are even more pronounced than the rest of the tribe. And they're holding a golden staff like the one the Hypnobrai have, except with a red gem instead of a dark blue one.
"And who-" The left head for Lloyd hisses out, the voice raspy, with a vampire-like accent.
"May I ask, released us?" The right head asks in a slightly higher but still raspy voice.
"From our captivity." The first head finishes while leaning toward Lloyd, making the boy back away slightly as other Fangpyres walk toward him.
"Uh, Lloyd," Lloyd answers nervously before looking around in a panic.
"I released you to make the Hypnobrai pay for betraying me," Lloyd explains, grabbing his map and getting ready to run.
"The Hypnobrai?" The right head questions the left head.
"Those hypnotizing deceivers." The left head growls.
"It'll be-" The right head for Lloyd begins.
"Our pleasure!" The left hisses out with a grin, causing Lloyd to smile in relief.
"Oh, good," Lloyd utters.
"I'll lead the way. Then after that, there are some ninja and Miraculous users I want dealt with." Lloyd explains, causing both heads' eyes to widen.
"Sounds like-" The general's right head starts in their deep, raspy voice.
"Know-" The left head continues.
"What you want." The right finishes.
"Tell us." The left begins.
"Which Miraculous-"
"Will we be facing?"
"Oh, well. I think they called them the Ladybug and Black Cat." Lloyd says while rubbing his head as he remembers what the Hypnobrai mentioned.
"The keys." Right hisses, their voice tinged with excitement.
"We will help you." Right says excitedly.
"But the Hypnobrai are strong," Left adds.
"And we are few in numbers." Right points out, looking at the small number of his tribe.
"We need-"
"Reinforcements!"
"What did you have in mind?" Lloyd asks curiously, wondering if they need to unlock another tomb already.
The two heads hiss excitedly, their expressions almost growing hungry. It's enough for Lloyd to take some nervous steps back.
-------------------
"Jay, two people named Ed and Edna are here to see you!" Marinette calls from behind Sensei Wu.
Jay groans at the news before pausing the game.
"It's my parents." He tells the others in a slightly disappointed voice.
"Please, if they start yapping, just don't get them going, okay?" Jay pleads as he looks at everyone.
"They don't know when to quit, and if you start talking, then they'll start talking and suddenly half the day is gone before you know it. And it's not even-" Jay blabbers on, his voice growing quicker with each passing second until Kai has enough.
"We get it! They talk a lot!" Kai cuts Jay off with an annoyed tone.
"The cherry doesn't fall far from its blossom." He mutters under his breath while looking away from Jay.
The group soon leaves the room and heads onto the deck. When Jay sees his parents, he puts on his best smile and walks toward them with his arms raised.
"Mom, Dad! What are you doing here?" He nervously asks them after calling out to the duo.
Far from bothered by his tone, the two look at Jay ecstatically. There is nothing but love on both their expressions.
"Oh look! It's my baby boy!" Edna shouts ecstatically as she quickly jumps out of her seat and raises her arms in excitement.
"It's been so long since we heard from you!" Edna tells him, causing Jay to blush.
"Ma. I called you two days ago." He argues as his parents get out of their car.
"Welllllllll, it's not soon enough, Son." Ed chuckles happily as he walks toward Jay.
"When are you coming out to the junkyard?" He asks while swinging an arm.
"You say you're coming a-and yo-you don't," Ed adds as the two stop before the group, his words causing Jay to grow more embarrassed.
"Daddd. Do we have to talk about the junkyard in front of my friends?" He asks in embarrassment as he looks around at the others, who all smile at his parents.
"He hates it when we tell people he was born in a junkyard," Edna happily tells the group while waving her hand dismissively.
She then sees Nya, and her face lights up even more.
"Oh, and who are you? Oh, you are so cute." She tells Nya as she walks toward the younger girl.
"You're just my son's type," Edna reveals while grabbing Nya's hand in both of her own.
"Mommmmmm!" Jay angrily hisses between gritted teeth, his face growing another shade of red.
"It's a pleasure meeting you," Nya says awkwardly with a strained smile before motioning to Jay.
"I'm sure, if you want, Jay can give you the tour." She adds before looking at Jay.
"He worked very hard on it," Nya adds in a slightly proud tone, causing both parents to smile even more.
"We'd love a tour!" They shout joyfully, throwing their arms up excitedly.
Their action makes Marinette smile, since the duo reminds her a bit of her parents. She's not the only one. Adrien and Cole also smile at the enthusiasm. Their eyes slightly linger on Edna but still focus on both. Meanwhile, Jay sighs at his parents' enthusiasm, feeling it's going to be a long day.
The group soon takes the tour to the ship's bridge; the sonar is ringing like music within the room.
"And this is the bridge," Jay states, showing off all the high-tech devices mixed with the old parts of the ship.
"This extends into a periscope," Jay informs the duo, grabbing the periscope bottom hanging in the middle of the room.
"This lets us see what's around us," Jay explains before going to another device that's resting on the counter. It almost looks like a high-tech coffee machine.
"If a Serpentine's not giving us the answers we want and we're up late at night..." Jay starts before his parents interrupt.
"A neuro apparatus to read their minds?" Edna suggests excitedly while putting a hand to her cheek.
"An audio appliance to make them talk," Ed suggests, raising his hand, causing Jay to lose his smile.
"No. A cappuccino machine." Jay states, grabbing a nearby cup, placing it on one of the two stools, and pulling a lever to get some coffee.
"Amazing son!" Ed grins as he raises his arms in excitement.
"We're so proud of you," Ed tells him, waving an arm, both staring at Jay with looks of pride and love.
"Why don't you tell him about the button?" Cole asks, motioning to a control panel with a single red button.
It's something Jay was taking extra time to work on while the group was upgrading the ship the last few days. Jay scowls as he stomps toward Cole while forcing out a laugh so as not to worry his parents.
"It's not ready yet," Jay growls at Cole through gritted teeth.
"Oh, what's the button do?" Edna asks with a curious smile.
"He's working on a special defense system," Zane reveals.
"Yeah. So we don't end up losing this place like we almost lost the monastery." Adrien adds.
"Something every ninja headquarters needs." Kai agrees with a smile.
"Oh, really?" Ed asks excitedly as he walks toward it.
"What does it do? Can I help?" Ed asks as he reaches for the panel before Jay lightly pulls him back.
"No, it's okay. I don't need your help, Dad." Jay promises his father anxiously.
"Let's just leave it alone," Jay says while patting the control panel, then gets an idea.
"Hey, look at the time," Jay notes while looking at his arm, even though there's no watch there.
"Don't you need to get back before it gets dark?" Jay asks while pushing Ed toward the door.
"I told you, there's dangerous Serpentine out there," Jay states as he pushes Edna too.
The two pull away from Jay's arms and turn toward their boy and his friends. Their expressions turn sad and disappointed.
"Well, I suppose we could get back," Ed says, looking down sadly.
"Edna, it was a pleasure hearing about Jay's first potty time," Cole says as he walks up next to Jay and gives the two parents a grin.
His words cause Edna to smile.
"Oh, if you thought that was good, wait until you hear the story about the time I caught him kissing his pillow," Edna says while motioning to Jay.
The blue ninja groans again before looking at her.
"Ugh, snakes, Ma. Snakes!" Jay shouts while raising his arms to imitate a monster.
"Okay. We're going. We're going." Edna promises his son before she and Ed turn toward the door.
The others follow them out until the parents reach their car. Cole even goes as far as to put some of the junk in the back for them. Before the duo leaves, they look to Jay one last time.
"So, you promised to come to the junkyard and visit your mother and father?" Edna asks Jay as Ed backs the car up.
"Yes! I promise! But only if you leave." Jay says in frustration, causing Adrien to frown at his tone.
"I don't want you to get hurt. It's getting dark." Jay adds, his tone growing kinder as he does so.
He then notices something about their car and grows worried.
"Your headlights are working, right?" He asks, not wanting them to get lost in the desert because they can't see.
To answer him, Ed flashes the headlights, causing them to glow brightly in the heroes' faces. Everyone covers their eyes to avoid being blinded. Marinette even goes so far as to pull her hoodie strings and cover her face with her closed hood.
"Like 'em?" Ed asks, leaning against his seat with a grin, ignorant of the damage his action caused.
"I used a little extra juice," Ed explains, telling everyone why they're brighter than normal headlights.
"Yep, bye, son!" Ed calls as he turns the headlights off and turns the car, honking his horn goodbye.
"I couldn't be more proud!" Ed calls as they drive off.
"And bring Nya with you, will ya? I can see why you like her!" Edna calls out while turning back to look at their shrinking figures.
"Mom!" Jay growls between gritted teeth as the others smile at him, Nya seeming unbothered by their words.
"Now that they have left, perhaps Jay can teach us the art of... kissing pillows." Sensei Wu snorts in amusement, causing Jay to look down in embarrassment.
He then lets out a frustrated yell while shaking his arms before stomping off into the ship, everyone else laughing at him. Even Marinette, Zane, and the Kwami, after coming out of hiding, laugh in amusement at his plight.
-------------------
On the road, Ed and Edna's jalopy goes at full speed through the sunset, but they're not as enthusiastic as their driving.
"I don't think he's coming, dear." Ed sighs as he looks at Edna.
But Edna smiles with hope as she looks at her husband.
"Stop it, dear. He's coming." Edna promises Ed.
"Ahh, he doesn't need us anymore," Ed tells her sadly.
"Yeah, I just have to remember that," Ed tells himself as he looks back to the road before looking at Edna.
"Write it down for me, would ya?" He asks with a wink.
Edna drops her smile to pull out her notepad and quickly take the note before she forgot it too. She then remembers Jay's worry.
"Lights, dear. It's getting dark." Edna points out as they watch the sun set ahead of the open road.
"Right. Heh. Thanks, Sugarplum." Ed thanks his wife with a smile as he turns the headlights back on.
-------------------
After the sun sets and night sets in, Ed and Edna finally reach their junkyard. It looks like what one probably expects. Piles of old tires and machinery people tossed out. At the gate, there's a light-up sign saying 'Ed & Edna Scrap 'N Junk' with various letters that don't match.
The old jalopy pulls in, then turns and parks near an old motor home where the duo lives.
"Home, sweet home," Ed says with a smile.
He then gets out of the car and grabs his toolbox before heading over to a massive ninja statue. The statue looks like it's made from various scrap pieces. And it almost looks like Jay, with nunchucks hanging from the back.
"Back to the grind," Ed calls to Edna as he heads toward the statue, while Edna heads for the motorhome.
"Oh, sweetie. You've been working on that thing day and night." Edna tells her husband with a smile as she admires her husband's work ethic.
Ed chuckles lightly before smiling at Edna.
"Yeah, you never know when Jay may show up," Ed states, holding some hope despite his words in the car.
His words cause Edna to smile giddily.
"Oh, you're right. You never know." Edna agrees before closing the door, planning to make something to give Ed some energy to keep working.
Meanwhile, Ed sets his toolbox down and grabs a blowtorch and safety mask from it before getting to work on the statue. Both enjoy the peace of their home. That is, until Ed hears something run quickly past him. The man quickly turns around and takes his mask off to get a better look, his face one of worry. And it only grows when he sees no one around.
"Uh, Edna! Was that you?" Ed calls out to his wife, hoping it's just Edna playing a spook on him.
Hearing her husband, Edna opens the motorhome door and looks at him in confusion.
"What, Ed?" Edna calls out, having not fully heard him.
"Are you hearing things again!?" Edna shouts, remembering times when he called her out in a panic like this.
Ed turns to his wife and gives her an uncertain and worried look.
"I, uh- you turned on the security alarm before you left, didn't you, hun?" Ed asks, his words making him fumble for words.
Edna blinks at him a few times, both from confusion and trying to remember if she did turn it on. She quickly walks out of their home and heads to a circuit breaker-like panel. She opens it and toggles the switch before looking at Ed.
"Must be broken!" Edna shouts toward Ed, causing dread to envelop him.
Suddenly, the various lights set up in the junkyard begin to go out around them. Normally, it would feel like a power outage. But now, it feels deliberate, causing Ed to hold his blowtorch protectively.
"Whoever's there, my son knows Spinjitzu!" Ed shouts into the darkness while glaring around him.
Hissing envelops the junkyard. When Ed hears it, he immediately runs to Edna, blowtorch in hand.
"What is it?" Edna asks in confusion as she sees her husband's worry.
"Oh, why are the lights out?" She asks worriedly before Ed places a comforting hand on her shoulder.
"Call Jay, hun! Someone's broken in!" Ed shouts in a panic.
"How about we wait until he calls you?" A young voice says behind them, causing the duo to turn to the motorhome and see Lloyd standing atop it with a severed landline in hand and the Fangpyre general next to him.
"E-Ed," Edna calls nervously, causing Ed to hug her.
"Be strong, Edna. I won't let them hurt you." He tells his wife before looking at the duo.
"W-who are you? What do you want?" Ed demands, causing the general to put a hand to his chest.
"I am Fangtom." The left head introduces himself in a relatively polite tone.
"And we're in need of your resources." The right announces to the two harshly, then looks at Lloyd.
"If we plan to attack the Hypnobrai." Left begins.
"We'll need to grow our army!" Right shouts, causing Lloyd to look confused.
"And, uh, how do we do that?" Lloyd asks in confusion.
"Let's just say." Left starts.
"We Fangpyre bite off more." Right continues, excited.
"Than we can chew." Left hisses, causing Lloyd to smirk.
"Have at it, boys!" Right surprisingly shouts alone, causing all the hidden Fangpyres to pop out and bite various pieces of junk in the junkyard.
Ed and Edna watch in horror as a green miasma envelops the vehicles the Fangpyres bite. The Serpentine are biting items like old helicopters, motorcycles, and cars. Each item bitten slowly turns into a living, mechanical Serpentine.
The old helicopter turns into a sleek green, mechanical snake. Purple-tinted glass at the cockpit, jet-like boosters on the sides with wings, and the formerly broken tail looking like a curled serpent tail with purple spikes running along it.
The broken-down bike turns into a giant motorcycle. One shaped like a serpent. The front is a giant head with fangs, a hissing tongue surrounded by large fangs, and bright red and orange eyes. And in the back, they have a long tail that hangs like a scorpion's tail.
The car transforms into a literal monster truck, far larger and tougher-looking than the motorcycle, with a more defined snake-like face. It has four monster-truck-like wheels hanging practically at the same height as the car's body. It even has a sharper-looking tail hanging like the motorcycle, with purple spikes running along it in contrast to the bike.
"Woahhhhhhhh!" Lloyd says in amazement before grinning.
He quickly looks around the junkyard for something else to transform and points at an old unicycle.
"Oh, oh, do that one too!" He shouts, causing Fangtom's heads to turn to it and chuckle.
"Very well." Left chuckles before motioning to a Fangpyre.
"Snappa! Bite that!" Right orders, causing a human-faced Fangpyre to run over and bite into the unicycle.
When the venom from his fangs takes over, it turns into a one-wheeled motorcycle-like vehicle. Unlike the other Serpentine vehicles, it's quite small, about the size of a person or a normal bike. A light green serpent-like head with purple markings surrounds the wheel, and handlebars lean backward toward the seat. But it lacks a tail like the other vehicles.
"Awesome!" Lloyd shouts enthusiastically before jumping off and running toward the vehicle.
"I'm going to call you Motofang," Lloyd tells the small Serpentine vehicle while affectionately rubbing their head, causing Motofang to hiss in satisfaction and lean into it.
Meanwhile, Ed and Edna stare at the loudly revving, bio-mechanical monster vehicles in shock and horror.
"My creations." Ed covers his mouth in horror and is about to walk over to them before Edna stops him.
"You're turning them into-" Ed starts before Fangtom comes up behind them and glares down at the two.
Ed tries to scare him off with the blowtorch, but Fangtom easily smacks it away and glares down at the two.
"An army!" Right hisses out before Left cuts in with a mocking smile.
"You are correct." He tells the two as they back away, anxiously.
"But we can also." Right hisses.
"Turn people." Left grins as Fangpyre soldiers head toward the couple.
Fangtom's heads then bare their fangs and slowly move toward Ed and Edna. All the couple can do is scream in fear as he descends on them.
-------------------
Tomorrow morning, Jay is working on the control panel again.
"Sure got a lot of junk piling up," Kai states as he and Zane walk past Jay with some old stuff they're taking out.
"If only there was a place we could get rid of it," Kai adds, causing Jay to grow.
"If you don't mind, I'm trying to focus." Jay snaps at them before going to work.
"Hi, Mom and Dad," Cole says as he comes in, his phone to his ear.
"Of course. I'd love to visit. What kind of son would I be if I didn't want-" Cole continues before Jay cuts him off with a laugh.
"I-I know what you're trying to do," Jay tells everyone.
"O-okay, look. I might have promised to visit my parents. But there's a lot of stuff on my plate." Jay tells the three ninjas.
"I'm sure we can take a break to visit. They seem like great people." Adrien adds from beside Jay, Plagg smirking.
"Yeah. Maybe your dad can fix the problem you're having with this for you." Plagg states while hitting his paw.
"I don't need any help with it!" Jay snaps at Plagg.
"You really should visit, though. I'd give anything to have both my parents again." Adrien tells Jay.
"Adrien's right, Jay. You never know when you're going to lose them." Cole nods toward the blue ninja.
"They'll be fine. What I need to do is get this ship ready for the Serpentine." Jay states while pointing at the console with his screwdriver.
At that, Nya and Tikki come in. When Jay sees Nya, his annoyed expression turns into one of shyness and love.
"Hi, Nya." He waves to her quietly.
"You gonna visit your parents today?" She asks with a smile.
"U-uh, sure am. Just about to leave." Jay tells her with a shaky smile.
"Cool. Tell them I said hi." She tells Jay before walking off to get back to work.
After she leaves, the others give Jay a flat expression.
"What? So my plate's not that full." Jay defends in embarrassment.
-------------------
Jay is now outside, trying to get Wisp to fly him to the junkyard. However, the dragon isn't moving. In fact, he looks more tired than Jay has ever seen him before.
"Come on, Wisp," Jay grunts as he pulls on Wisp's rein.
Wisp shakes his head in refusal, causing Jay to stare up at him.
"It will be a quick visit. Just in and out, nothing more." Jay promises the dragon, but Wisp still refuses to move.
Sensei Wu appears from behind Wisp, holding a giant thermometer.
"As I expected." Sensei Wu utters with a troubled expression.
Jay stops pulling and stares at Sensei Wu in confusion.
"The dragons are molting. They're shedding their scales." Sensei Wu informs him.
"What does that mean?" Jay questions in confusion.
"Every adolescent dragon goes through a transformation before it becomes an adult. We must allow them to migrate east to the Spirit Coast for their transformation." Sensei Wu explains.
As he does, everyone walks over to the duo, having heard his words and becoming concerned.
"Will we see them again?" Jay asks worriedly.
"It is hard to say. But we need to allow them to follow their path." Sensei Wu tells the group.
"Rocky's going east!" Cole shouts in hurt.
"I'm afraid so." Sensei Wu nods, causing the black ninja's heart to break.
"Well, then I'm going to get Marinette. She should get to say goodbye too." Cole tells the others before running to the ship, Zane and he having picked Marinette up again for today.
Meanwhile, Kai, Nya, Tikki, and Zane head over to Flame and Shard while Jay, Adrien, and Plagg stay with Wisp.
Zane rubs Shard's nose sadly, the dragon rubbing against him in equal sadness. Nya and Kai take sides and caress Flame's face, the dragon quietly taking their comforting presence.
"I can't believe they're leaving," Adrien utters as he pets Wisp.
"Nothing can last forever." Sensei Wu tells him as Adrien and Jay pet Wisp.
Cole soon comes back with a panicked Marinette, and the two run up to Rocky.
"Say it ain't so, Rocky," Cole begs, but the dragon shakes his head sadly.
"When you get back, I'll be sure to have a bunch of sweets ready for you," Marinette promises while hugging Rocky sadly.
Rocky leans into the hug and lets out a whine, signalling he's going to miss them too.
As everyone continues saying goodbye to the dragons, Jay suddenly gets an idea and looks toward Nya. He slowly walks toward her, using the time to collect his thoughts. When he nears her, he puts on a charming smile.
"Well, I guess I gotta go on this longggg walk all by myself." Jay sighs in a suggestive tone, rubbing the back of his head and looking down in faux sadness.
"Sure would be nice to have company," Jay states while looking up toward her.
Nya smiles and gives him a silent nod. Unfortunately for Jay, she's not the only one around.
"Of course we'll go, buddy," Kai tells Jay as he looks past Flame.
"I'd love to see where you grew up." Tikki agrees as she flies in front of Nya.
"I could use a break." Cole agrees as he walks up, thinking the trip will help him with losing Rocky.
"All you had to do was ask." Zane agrees, oblivious to Jay's real goal.
"I'd love to talk to your parents more." Adrien agrees as he walks up behind Jay, Plagg snickering behind him, out of everyone's view.
"That backfired fast." He mutters between bits of laughter.
Jay's jaw drops before he lets out a frustrated groan. Soon, the group releases their dragons and watches them fly off, waving goodbye. After their disappearance, Tikki gets an idea.
"Why do you use Lucky Charm?" Tikki suggests, causing Nya to blink in confusion.
"Why would I do that? Won't that make you tired?" She asks in confusion.
"Yes. But it might give us something to get to Jay's home faster." Tikki suggests.
"It would be nice not to travel in this heat." Cole agrees as he looks toward the endless amounts of sand.
"I guess." Nya acknowledges before transforming.
"Lucky Charm!" Nya shouts as she throws her yo-yo up.
Everyone watches as the spots on her body glow bright pink as she throws the yo-yo up. It's like her body is covered in nightlights. Then, as the yo-yo spins in the air, it releases hundreds of red magic ladybugs. The ladybugs spin around the yo-yo, enveloping it for a few seconds before all of them burst away.
Corinae and a couple of others in the group have to jump away to avoid being squashed by what drops. Everyone looks down and sees that a bicycle is lying in the sand. Not just any bike, though. It's a long, eight-seated, red tandem bike with black spots running along it.
"You've got to be kidding me," Kai mutters in annoyance, having flashbacks about carrying Sensei Wu around in the cart.
"Well, it would seem we're pedaling there." Sensei Wu observes.
"I'll just go back to the ship and keep cleaning while you're gone," Marinette states, about to walk off before Zane stops her.
"But there are eight seats." Zane points out.
"The Lucky Charm always has a reason for what it does." Sensei Wu acknowledges, causing Marinette and Adrien to groan.
Soon, all eight find themselves pedaling the bike. Jay up front, Sensei Wu behind him. Then it's Adrien, Zane, Kai, Cole, Nya, and Marinette. The Kwami are resting on their wielders, Tikki eating a cookie.
"Of all the days to lose our ride," Jay grunts as he feels the heat wrap around him.
"I've been meaning to ask, Sensei. You never told us why that flute you used was so special." Zane says as he pedals.
"Long ago. There were many flutes. Created to combat the powers of the Serpentine and drive them underground." Sensei Wu explains as some birds fly by.
"But over time, Ninjago's forgotten its ancestors' wisdom. And now, the one I hold is the only one." Sensei Wu reveals.
"It's also part of why none of you have ever heard of a Miraculous. We slowly got lost in time, and only a few people know about us." Plagg pipes up as he relaxes on Adrien's head.
"That's what happens when people forget to take the time to learn from the past," Tikki adds somewhat pointedly, staring toward Jay.
"I get the lesson! Respect your elders or else suffer the consequences. Boy, you guys are laying it on thick!" Jay grunts in annoyance at the constant jabs at him.
Sensei Wu chuckles at this before looking at Jay.
"Perhaps you are only hearing what you need to hear." Sensei Wu points out before they finally reach the junkyard and stop.
As the others get off, Jay immediately notices something is wrong and narrows his eyes.
"What is it?" Nya asks in concern, noticing Jay isn't moving to get off the bike.
"It's quiet." He whispers more to himself than to answer her, his voice taking on a hint of dread.
"My family's never quiet." He tells the group grimly as a protective instinct takes over.
He quickly flips his hood on and sprints into the junkyard to see what's going on. Sensing their friend's worry, the others quickly sprint in after him. Upon entering, they notice the junkyard is empty despite the jalopy being parked.
Jay quickly looks around for his parents. He notes the motorhome door is left open, which they don't do if they're inside. Soon, his trained senses pick up on muffled cries. He follows the sounds until he sees an old fridge shaking, the handle barred.
Without hesitation, he sprints at the fridge and kicks the bar away before ripping it open. Inside, Ed and Edna are chained up, duct tape covering their mouths. Caught off guard, the two stare at their son and his friends in shock, while Jay looks at them in horror and worry.
"What happened?" He demands as he takes the tape off.
"Who did this?" He asks not even a second later as he works on the chains.
He does it so quickly that he doesn't notice an important detail about them after ripping the tape off.
"Oh, sssssweetheart. You came." Edna hisses out in a joyful tone, causing Jay's eyes to widen and look up to see that she grew fangs.
"Oh, you gotta get out of here! You ssssssshouldn't have come. It'ssssss the sssssssnakes!" Ed hisses in worry for his son and his friends, his mouth also displaying prominent snake-like fangs.
Sensei Wu immediately recognizes the two's condition, and his eyes widen in horror.
"The bite of the Fangpyre! Once they sink their teeth, their venom can turn anything into a serpent!" Sensei Wu shouts in alarm as Cole runs over to Jay and rips the chains off.
"It's only a matter of time before the full transformation is complete." Sensei Wu notes as Ed feels something off with his hands.
He holds them up, and his eyes widen as scales begin to grow on them. Edna puts a hand to her mouth in worry, only to feel scales growing on her as well. Jay stares at his parents in horror as he sees what's happening to them.
Before he can say anything, though, the Fangpyres' hissing resonates within the junkyard. Everyone looks around to see an army of them coming from around the corner, a Serpentine wrecking ball behind them. The vehicle looks like the other Serpentine ones, except its wrecking ball sports a Jack-O'-lantern-like face, one glowing dark green.
"Uh, is that wrecking ball staring at us?" Cole questions after the wrecking ball seems to turn toward them, with him and the others getting into fighting stances.
The crane then pulls back and launches the wrecking ball at the group, causing them to panic.
"Duck!" Kai screams as everyone dives for cover, Jay tackling his parents out of the way while Sensei Wu does the same for Marinette.
"Oh, thanks, sssssssssssson." Ed thanks his son as the trio lies on the ground.
As the dust clears, Sensei Wu looks around and sees a sight that doesn't make him happy.
"Lloyd!" He shouts angrily as he sees Lloyd and Fangtom standing on a pile of tires.
"Hello, Uncle." Lloyd greets his uncle with a smirk, proudly sitting atop Motofang as the former unicycle makes engine-revving noises mixed with hissing.
"Looks like we're not the only family reunion," Lloyd says while pointing to Jay and his parents.
Everyone quickly backs away and regroups, glaring at the two looking down at them.
"I'm glad you brought the ninja. I could use some help taking out the trash. Muhahahahahaha!" Lloyd laughs easily as Fangtom grins.
"Can't you use the Ladybug Miraculous to heal my parents?" Jay demands toward Nya, anxiety clouding his mind.
"Probably. But Tikki still needs a little more time to recover." Nya tells him, looking at her Kwami.
"It would be best if we tried to claim the staff, anyway. It is never a solid plan to rely only on one solution." Sensei Wu advises the others, getting nods.
"You heard him. Plagg, claws out!" Adrien announces before transforming.
As he transforms, the wrecking ball pulls back for a second attack. Cole sees this and shouts toward the others.
"Second dose! Hit the dirt!"
Everyone quickly jumps out of the way, and another wave of dirt covers the area as the weapon crashes into the ground. The Fangpyre take the chance to walk toward the group in the chaos.
"Easier said than done. We're a bit outnumbered. And probably outgunned." Kai points out as he draws his sword.
"Get somewhere safe, sis." He orders, causing Nya to scowl.
But Jay doesn't share Kai's sentiment. He draws his nunchucks and glares at the Fangpyre.
"Nobody messes with my family!" He shouts before charging at the Fangpyre.
He launches himself in the air while spinning his nunchucks. He then lands right in front of the group, slamming his weapon into the ground and sending a wave of electricity at the army. On top of getting thoroughly electrocuted, the Serpentine at the front are sent flying back.
But Jay isn't done. He immediately charges forward again before jumping in the air.
"Ninja go!" Jay announces while mid-air before using his Spinjitzu and continuing his charge.
A group of Fangpyre tries to dogpile him, but Jay easily sends them flying. One even gets stuck, legs out, in a tire.
The wrecking ball is launched at Jay to stop him. But the blue ninja slides under him before continuing his charge. On top of that, the wrecking ball gets stuck between a few pieces of trash, taking it out of the fight for a while.
Spurred on by their comrade, the other ninja charge forward.
"Ninja go!" They shout in unison before using Spinjitzu to knock away any Serpentine that charge at them.
Some of the Fangpyre decide to take their chances with Sensei Wu and Marinette. Marinette looks around anxiously as she raises her arms defensively, wishing she had a Miraculous right now. But Sensei Wu isn't as intimidated. He quickly pulls out his Sacred Flute and begins to play its tune.
Upon hearing it, the Fangpyre hold their heads and ears in pain, giving Nya a chance to come in and dispatch them by kicking their feet out and stomping on them or slamming an attack to the stomachs and heads. She even goes the extra step, grabbing one by their legs and spinning them around before throwing them at another, getting her anger from her brother's words out with that last attack.
"I think we make a pretty good duet, Sensei," Nya says as she runs over to the two, a proud smile on her face.
Sensei Wu smiles, only to jolt in surprise as loud music suddenly begins to play in the junkyard. He looks up to see Lloyd is now playing the music on an infected boombox.
"Young nephew. Must I teach you whose side you should be on!?" Sensei Wu shouts over the music.
In retaliation, Motofang uses his tongue to turn the music up, causing Lloyd to grin before putting a hand to his ear.
"Sorry, Uncle! Can't hear you!" Lloyd shouts, his words unhearable over the music, but Sensei Wu can still read his lips.
Sensei Wu continues to glare up at Lloyd. Meanwhile, a Fangpyre sneaks up behind him, hissing in excitement, which is drowned out by the music. Luckily, someone hits them on the head with a frying pan, knocking them out.
Sensei Wu blinks in confusion before turning around to see Ed and Edna standing behind him, Edna holding the frying pan with a grin.
"Yeah, wait a go, Edna!" Ed shouts enthusiastically, not noticing the Fangpyre coming up behind him.
Before the Fangpyre can do anything, two arms wrap around their waist. In the next second, they feel themselves getting lifted into the air and their head being slammed into the ground. Marinette then lets them go after performing her suplex and dusts her hands.
"I can't believe I got dragged into this again." She can't help but mutter as she stares down at the unconscious soldier.
Meanwhile, the ninja reform and glare toward a small group of remaining, nervous-looking Fangpyre.
"Ninja go!" They shout together as they charge forward with Spinjitzu, causing the Fangpyre to turn around and run.
As they turn a corner, they see the robot Ed was making, and one gets an idea.
"Follow me!" They shout before leading the other two toward the robot.
The ninja soon turn the same corner, but stop in surprise when they see the Fangpyre climbing the robot and biting into it. To their further shock, it soon transforms into a green version of itself, with narrow, glowing red eyes with black, slit pupils and maroon, snake-head-shaped nunchucks.
"What is that thing?!" Jay says in surprise as he leans away from it.
"It was supposed to be in your honor, son," Ed says nervously before giving a shaky smile.
"Do you like it?" He can't help but ask.
Before Jay can answer, the robot moves forward, causing Jay to panic.
"Thanks. But no thanks!" Jay shouts toward his father before he and the other ninja run off, barely dodging the robot when it tries to slam its nunchucks down on them.
The ninja do their best to get some distance, but unfortunately, the newly freed wrecking ball is ahead of them, getting ready to launch another attack.
"Oh, why'd you have to be born in a junkyard?" Cole asks Jay in a panic.
"I know, tell me about it," Jay grunts as the crane sends the wrecking ball toward them.
The ninja quickly dodge to the side as the wrecking ball kicks up dirt, but Kai quickly notices they're missing someone.
"Wasn't there four of us?" He asks before they all look around for Jay.
They soon spot the blue ninja riding atop the wrecking ball. Jay glares down at the crane below him before backflipping off it and jumping toward the crane. He lands on its roof and quickly kicks out the Fangpyre controlling it.
Unfortunately, when he tries to take control, the control panel hisses at him, even trying to bite him.
"Okay! Whoa!" Jay shouts in alarm, jumping out of the controls before he gets infected too.
Unfortunately for the others, they were so distracted by Jay that they failed to notice the robot heading toward them. The Serpentine Bot rears its weapon up before slamming it toward Cole. The black ninja barely turns around in time to block it with his scythe.
Cole grunts in surprise as his legs buckle under the attack's pressure. But he quickly pulls himself together and lifts himself, holding the robot's weapon at bay.
"Don't worry. I've got this!" Cole grunts as he struggles against the bot.
"You don't gotta keep it there for long." Cat Noir shouts as he jumps toward the robot with his palm outstretched.
"Cataclysm!" He shouts before touching the robot, causing its eyes to widen as it feels its body rust over and break apart.
The robot soon becomes nothing more than a pile of junk, its weapon breaking apart around Cole too.
"I told you I had it!" Cole shouts toward Cat Noir in annoyance.
"Sorry. We cats have trouble listening." He says while flashing a peace sign.
Motofang pulls Lloyd over to them, Fangtom trailing behind, and the boy glares at the scene before him. Unfortunately, the boys are far from intimidated, raising their weapons toward the three.
"Retreat!" Lloyd shouts to the Fangpyre before Motofang drives away from the five.
Fangtom continues to glare down at the five before helicopter noises can be heard. Soon, a Serpentine Chopper appears behind him, catching the ninja off guard and causing them to lower their weapons slightly. The Fangpyre and all their creations, including the boombox and a toaster, quickly make a break for one of the empty gates while Fangtom gets on the platform hanging from the Serpentine Chopper before it flies off.
"He's getting away with the staff!" Nya screams in alarm as she runs toward the group.
The ninja groan as they realize they have no way to go after them.
"Right now would be a good time to have those dragons." Jay groans as he realizes they're useless like this.
During the fight, Ed and Edna have grown paler, and more scales grow from their bodies.
"It'sssssss okay, sssssssson," Ed promises Jay while placing a comforting hand on his shoulder, but the exhausted tone of his voice isn't doing much to help.
"There's still a way." Sensei Wu promises, making hope grow in the group.
"How!" Jay shouts anxiously.
"Part of reaching your own full potential is understanding your weapon's potential." Sensei Wu shouts while pointing at the golden weapons.
"Once it is in tune with a focused heart, its secrets and powers can be unlocked." Sensei Wu reveals, causing Jay to shout in frustration.
"This is not the time to be cryptic!" Jay shouts at Sensei Wu before Zane cuts in.
"He is saying our weapons are vehicles themselves," Zane reveals, causing Kai to stare at his sword with a raised eyebrow.
"Don't tell me I have to ride this like a broomstick," Kai says as he imagines the embarrassing scene.
"Jay. Concentrate on unlocking your golden weapon. Let your heart guide you. Imagine you're taking flight." Sensei Wu orders.
Jay stares at his golden weapon for a moment. But knows he has no time to think. Instead, he does as he's told and focuses on the weapon, trying to find a connection. As he does, he begins spinning it rapidly, performing various training poses. The others back away as lightning surrounds him. Soon, Jay jumps and spins in the air, causing an orb of electricity to surround him before there's a blinding flash.
When the flash ends, it reveals Jay now sitting in a sleek blue and black fighter jet.
"Wh-whoa!" Jay stares at his new ride in shock before grinning.
"Did I just do that?" He asks, staring at all the controls.
The others stare in amazement before looking at their own golden weapons. Kai soon grabs his sword with both hands and puts it in front of his face while closing his eyes. He soon senses something within the sword and waves it in the air. He then runs his hand along the blade, and flames trail behind it. The flames grow stronger until they envelop Kai, and he's now on a red motorcycle with katana blades on the front end. The motorcycle sides soon open, making it look like it has wings.
Zane does the same and soon begins spinning his shuriken around, creating chunks of ice that float in the air before enveloping his body in a shell of ice.
The ice soon breaks apart, revealing Zane is now on a white and dark blue snowmobile, with ice on the front of the vehicle and on the back of the seat. The snowmobile has one rear tire, and the normally two skis converge into a single one.
Cole spins his scythe around him before throwing it in the air. The scythe stays suspended above him, spinning as earth rises from the ground and surrounds it like a tornado. Soon, it shoots down and converges under Cole's feet, creating a massive hill before Cole grabs his weapon and slams it into the mound.
Out comes a massive black and gold dunebuggy-like vehicle with four giant wheels, multiple blades on the front, and four wing-like flaps along the body.
"I hate to hurt Rocky's feelings, but I think he's just been replaced," Cole says ecstatically.
Jay doesn't waste much time, though. As soon as he figures out how the jet works, he immediately turns it on, causing the wings to unfold and golden blades to protrude out ahead of them, almost making the jet look like a fan. Electricity emits from it as it floats, and blue flames shoot from the engine before Jay blasts off.
Not wanting to be left behind, the other three rev their engines and drive off, Kai's shooting fire like a sparkler behind him, Zane's shooting icy mist, and Cole's leaving black smoke. The others watch them go in amazement before Adrien's transformation drops on its own.
"Do our Miraculous turn into anything?" Adrien can't help but ask Sensei Wu and the Kwami as he stares at his ring.
Sensei Wu looks at the two Miraculous wielders and the former wielder before giving a nod.
"You will learn when you are ready." Sensei Wu informs them.

Fangtom rides on the platform, not a care in the world, believing he escaped the ninja. Meanwhile, Lloyd and Motofang ride a little bit behind him.
"Come on, Motofang! Faster! We can't let them catch us." Lloyd says anxiously.
Suddenly, Jay's jet flies past the Serpentine Chopper at incredible speed, causing Lloyd to look up in shock.
"What the heck was that?!" He shouts in alarm as Fangtom tries to regain their hold on the rope.
"Whoops! Overshot that a little." Jay chuckles in embarrassment before turning the jet around.
Lloyd soon hears engine revving behind him, causing him to turn around and see the other ninja closing in on him and the other ground troops.
"Ah, stop them!" Lloyd shouts as he points at the three.
Meanwhile, Jay's eyes narrow as he stares at the oncoming air vehicle, determination coating his features.
"Let's see what this baby can do." He whispers, slamming his hand on a button by accident, causing the hatch to open and him to lose control.
The blue ninja screams in surprise as his path becomes more sporadic. Fangtom screams in surprise and panic as the crazy jet flies toward him and ducks in fear. Luckily, the jet harmlessly flies past him, but not before Jay manages to snag the staff. Fangtom watches it go for a moment before both heads notice their empty hand.
"The staff!" They scream in panic.
"I got it?" Jay asks in surprise, staring at it before grinning.
"I got it!" He shouts proudly while raising it in victory.
Only for him to lose his concentration and for the jet to vanish.
"Uh, oh." He utters before releasing a fearful scream as he falls.
"Jay! You have to concentrate!" Kai shouts toward the teen as he falls.
"I-I can't!" Jay shouts in distress.
"I think we're gonna have to catch him," Cole calls out to the others.
"I just hope we can," Kai says as he sees the Serpentine vehicles heading toward them.
"Allow me," Zane says before speeding toward the vehicles.
For a moment, it seems like he's playing chicken with one of the Serpentine Bikes. However, he turns at the last second, leaving a trail of ice behind him, causing the bike to lose control and crash.
"Oh no you don't!" Kai refuses to let Zane get all the fun.
He quickly charges at another Serpentine Bike. Soon, flames envelop the red motorcycle before Kai slams into the other vehicle, searing it and causing it to crash.
"Hahaha! Me next!" Cole shouts before slamming into a Serpentine Car, flipping it above him and causing it to crash on his back.
"Wahoo! I got Jay!" Kai shouts before getting cut off by Zane.
"No. I have him." Zane promises before Cole cuts in.
"No. I've got him!" Cole shouts.
The three argue and try to outdo each other. Soon, they also lose their concentration and crash into the sand. All while Jay continues screaming in fear at his imminent death.
Luckily for him, his parents' jalopy soon comes in, with the rest of the group in it. Nya lines the car up with Jay's fall, and manages to catch him, causing Jay to bounce slightly in the cushioned seats before pulling himself up.
"Heh, nice catch," Jay tells Nya in embarrassment at the save.
"Ohhhh, I knew I liked thisssssss, girl," Edna says happily, a serpent-like tongue shooting from her mouth at the S.
Their transformations are growing worse. They're now light green, with snake-like eyes.
Meanwhile, the Fangpyre stare in shock before Fangtom hovers over them.
"Everyone!" Left shouts to get their attention.
"Attack!" Right commands, pointing toward the group.
The Fangpyre quickly follow the command and charge forward. Seeing this, the ninja try to summon their vehicles again, but nothing comes out.
"Why isn't it working?" Kai shouts in alarm as they all shake their weapons.
"Your weapon is merely an extension of your mind." Sensei Wu informs them as the jalopy skids to a stop behind the trio.
"If your mind is immobile, so is your weapon." He informs them, causing everyone to panic.
"Oh boy, oh gosh, oh golly!" Ed shouts in a panic before looking at the trio.
"Get in, boys!" Ed shouts, causing the trio to jump on the back.
"We have to get back to the ship!" Kai shouts, causing Nya to gun it.
"Don't let them get away!" Lloyd shouts as he and Motofang lead the pack.
With surprising speed, the jalopy drives through the sand and is close to reaching Destiny's Bounty, managing to gain some major distance from the Serpentine.
As soon as Nya skids to a stop, everyone jumps out and runs inside, Cole going as far as to break the bridge to hopefully buy them more time.
"Come with me. Once we reverse the venom, we can fix you." Nya tells the couple as she takes the red gem from the staff while the others go to the bridge.
"Man the stations, everyone!" Jay shouts at the group as they all get into position on the bridge.
Kai looks out the window to see the Fangpyre army closing in, causing him to panic.
"Jay! We better hurry!" He shouts anxiously.
"I've been waiting for this moment," Jay says excitedly before slamming his hand on the button.
Only for it to do nothing.
The others look around in confusion, searching for changes while Kai continues watching the Fangpyre close in.
"They're gaining on us!" He shouts anxiously.
Nya comes into the bridge with Ed and Edna, carrying teacups as they hurry in.
The two soon drink the beverage, and a yellow glow envelops them as they let out surprised noises, feeling a tingling sensation all over them. Soon, the light fades, revealing them back to normal.
Jay doesn't see this, though. He's too busy slamming a fist into the button repeatedly.
"I don't get what's wrong! I spent forever on this! It's supposed to work!" He shouts in frustration as Ed walks up next to him.
"Uh, son," Ed calls worriedly, causing Jay to jump in surprise and turn to see his safe father.
"Maybe I can help," Ed says with a smile, but Jay's more focused on his body.
"Dad, you're okay!" He shouts in relief before hugging Ed.
Ed smiles at the affection before pushing Jay off.
"You're darn tootin'. Now let me take a look at this." Ed tells him before opening the panel's wiring and checking what's wrong.
"Ah, yeah, okay," Ed says as he messes with a few wires before standing up.
"That should do it," Ed tells his son before backing up.
"Now try it," Ed tells Jay while lifting a hand toward the button.
Jay quickly presses the button, and the occupants feel the ship shake.
Outside, engines blare as the sails unfold and the ornament devices spin, revealing jets under them that lift the ship off the ground. The Fangpyre watch in shock as the ship lifts off.
"No, no, no." Lloyd screams atop Motofang as he tries to go faster to reach them.
It's for naught, though. The ship soon takes off, blasting from their reach. Unfortunately, in doing so, the group inside loses their footing, causing Nya to drop the staff out the door and over the edge of the ship. It lands atop a Fangpyre's head, knocking them out, before burying itself in the sand.
Fangtom sees this and points the helicopter down, letting him retrieve his staff, causing both heads to grin.
"These ninja." Left hisses.
"And those Miraculous users." Right agrees.
"They must be stopped!" Both heads shout at once.
Meanwhile, Lloyd groans atop Motofang, realizing he lost another chance at revenge. The small Serpentine vehicle lets out noises of worry, causing Lloyd to sigh before rubbing their head.
"Next time," Lloyd promises.

Meanwhile, Destiny's Bounty sails above the clouds, the orange glow of the approaching night bathing it in its rays as it sails to safety. On the deck, Ed and Edna enjoy the scenery before Jay walks up to them.
"We'll get you back to the junkyard just as soon as we see the coast is clear," Jay promises them, causing them to look at him in shock and hurt.
"But stay as long as you'd like. It's nice having you here." Jay tells them with a truly happy and welcoming smile.
Both parents smile happily at their son before Ed looks at his wife.
"Well, take a note, Edna. Of all our inventions, this one is our greatest." Ed tells her while pulling Jay into a one-arm hug, his voice full of pride and love.
"I already know, dear," Edna tells him before throwing her notebook and pencil to the side and joining the hug.
Sensei Wu watches this with a smile before noticing Marinette off to the side, staring at the scene with her own smile. He quickly walks over to her and smiles at her.
"We will drop you off when it's safe as well." Sensei Wu promises.
"Thanks," Marinette tells him in relief.
"Thank you for coming despite everything and helping." Sensei Wu thanks her before giving her a calm expression.
"You may believe your journey with us is over. But I believe there is still much you will have to do." Sensei Wu informs her, causing Marinette to look down.
"I still don't think I should, especially when I don't have a Miraculous anymore," Marinette tells him sadly.
"Like a weapon, the Miraculous is merely a tool to help meet your full potential. It is not a requirement." Sensei Wu advises, turning to the sun.
"But I'm sure one day, you'll find yourself having a tool to help you in your time of need to reach your potential." Sensei Wu promises before walking off, leaving Marinette to enjoy the air and her thoughts alone.
Wahoo! Three chapters in a month! I can't believe I finished this a week after the last one. I'm not even joking when I say I finished half this chapter in one day!
I hope you all enjoyed it. Writing this has been great. I also hope you like some of the original elements I'm adding, like Motofang. I based them off Eggman's Motobugs and wanted to give Lloyd a pet.
Ed and Edna were a blast to write. I love them! And it was nice to add Marinette more into this chapter. I'm far from done with her and Adrien.
I don't know what I'm going to do with the dragons. But I'm hoping to let them survive or have a more significant death or reaction to it, since them just dying left a bad taste in my mouth.
Hope you guys are looking forward to the next chapter.
I wonder how Amber and Miguel’s relationship is… when they are heroes. Canon!Stripes and Ladybug already argue a lot. I can’t help but imagine Detective Stripes and Ursula disagreeing about everything XD
Their relationship wouldn't be great. I'm absolutely sure of that. Amber is the type to focus on passion and feelings. Miguel is much more logical. It's literally a case of opposites since one relies on instincts while the other relies on intelligence. It would actually be a bit similar to Ladybug and Cat Noir in that regard.
I think Detective Stripes wouldn't be happy with the Vigilante Trio, especially if they cause more headaches by getting others to think they can be vigilantes too.
So yeah, she's probably another source of headaches for Miguel XD
