Trick or Treat
The children stepped cautiously onto the steps, chills running down their spine at the lack of light on the porch. The wind blew the straw and hat scarecrow standing beside the door, causing one of the children to jump but a brave, shaky hand extending to knock on the door. Suddenly the eyes of the scarecrow glowed and stared down the children, the arms moving to grab them as the voice of the scarecrow groaned out a deadly howl.
The children screamed, dropping their bags of candy as they took off down the steps and across the street, not stopped until they were in the safety of the street lights.
“You’re a terrible person and you’re going to hell.” Steve Rogers’ expression was flat and unimpressed as he walked up the lawn, having gone next door to visit Natasha and Clint’s Halloween party.
“What?” Tony asked, taking off the helmet of his Iron Man suit underneath the scarecrow’s hat. “You have to admit that was funny!”
Steve continued past him, opening the door in silence, only pausing to glare at his husband.
“Oh come on, Steve. Didn’t you hear them scream? And we have free candy now.” He pointed to the bags on their porch. “Steve, it was funny! Steve!”
