Kokkuri-san?

I've always been drawn to the eerie charm of Japanese folklore. Especially the stories of foxes and their tricks. It's no surprise then that I ended up creating a character based on the Kokkuri-San legend for my RPG campaign. There's something about the way the foxes are portrayed in Japanese legends that really speaks to me. Maybe it's the idea of a cunning creature outwitting humans, or maybe it's the mystique surrounding the kitsune-tsuki possession. Either way, I find myself constantly gravitating towards these tales. Perhaps there's a bit of fox in me too, always playing my own games of deception.

For those who don't know, the Kokkuri-San legend is about a divination game where players can contact the spirit of a fox. The fox, in turn, will answer questions about the future or even possess the player. It's a spooky tale that's been retold in many different ways, and one that continues to fascinate me.

This is just a drabble, honestly

Asuke stood in front of The Three, their vaguely fox-esc appearances flickering; Fabrication was dripping like water but the drips went up, Recollection seemed more droopy than usual, Havoc... Havoc couldn't keep the eyes from littering its body, all of which Asuke could feel staring at him.

"...Why have you brought me here?" The God of War asked, head down. No matter how violent he was, he wasn't stupid.

Well, not very stupid, anyways. He wasn't one of their creations after all.

Fabrication stood first, stepping a paw forwards to silence Asuke before it spoke. "What have you done to my children." The question was blank, more a rhetorical question than anything. Its usual apathy would've made many assume Fabrication didn't care for its own creations... but it did, it cared greatly.

The soft sobs of another could be heard from the right before... "Oh my watchers, my darling watchers! What have you done? Some can barely or cannot see!" Mourned Recollection, holding its watchers within its tail like a mother with her kits, the scar that marred Mel's face caused her blindness, the Goddess of Fate was technically a watcher before this after all.

A scoff came from the left. "My creations! You hurt them!" Snarled Havoc, its tail lashing harshly as it looked down upon Asuke. The other gods and lesser gods stood aside.

"It was-"

A loud crack came from Havoc's tail, a sign for Asuke to shut his muzzle before something worse came his way than the three being so pissed off.

"I say make him unable to hurt anyone!" Havoc snapped.

"Make him stuck in the Underworld.." Recollection murmured.

"We may do both." Fabrication decided, looking down at Asuke whose fur stood on end as he was picked up by Kei like a misbehaving kit to be brought further up by the wyvern.

His punishment? Well... it would end whenever they felt was right.
