In which Sidney has an outcast who helps him willingly and eagerly when he’s in a spot of trouble. A Slightly Less Spiners AU drabble.
Sidney(outcast)/ Adrian (wh13)
“ You were gone too long.” Sidney’s voice was accusatory, but Adrian took no offense to it, chalking it up to the heavy bags under the man’s eyes and the sickly pallor to his cheeks, in combination with the sticky blackness that he could see staining the inside of his palms and the cuffs of his shirt. They both knew how important the errand had been that Sidney had sent him on, and so he saw no reason to argue.
Instead he simply reached out and gripped Sidney’s sleeve in a firm grip, careful not to even let his fingers brush the other man’s skin. It usually didn’t bother him, but when he was this far gone Adrian had found that even the faintest of contact would make him hiss in pain. Sidney’s eyes flickered up to his in something akin to appreciation before it passed in short order, to be replaced by a grimace as Adrian led him over to the couch, and a hacking cough.
He braced a hand on his back, the chill of Sidney’s skin through his white shirt almost enough to startle him. He had come back just in time. They stood there for a moment in the middle of the hotel room, Sidney being held up by sheer will and in no small part Adrian’s firm grip on him. He wanted to run a hand across the other’s man’s sweating brow, or grip his hand or brush his hair aside, but couldn’t. Instead he he just tightened his grip on Sidney’s sleeve and readjusted so he could rub a hand over his back.
They didn’t speak or move, until the coughing began to subside and Sidney was able to wipe a finely trembling hand across his mouth. He gripped it tight like a vice, but not before Adrian saw that the black ichor was thick and dark, and made a squelching noise as Sidney’s fist tightened.
“ Sit down, Sidney.” He said, not a question, and Sidney sat down almost automatically his blue eyes glazed over but still focused on him. His chest shuddered and Adrian could see a slight tremble in his pursed lips as if he was holding back another coughing fit.
There were multiple ways to do this, but Adrian opted for the one that would be easiest on Sidney and require as little from the ailing man as possible. He bent down, hands braced on Sidney’s shoulders for balance and kissed him. He had to coax a bit, tongue pressing the other man’s mouth open and thumbs pressing into tense muscle until he felt a groan against his mouth and Sidney’s whole body tensed for one long moment before his eyes flung open.
The process was cold, so cold that it burned as though ice was flowing down his throat and into his lungs, and Adrian dug his fingers in tighter for purchase so his body couldn’t wrench itself away. He had done this countless times before and it was always the same. Hold on until Sidney pushed him back.
Sidney’s hands rose from his hips, starting out slow and cautious but getting firmer the longer the embrace lasted until finally his fingers reached the back of his neck, bare fingers gripping him without even the slightest of burn.
The chill began to lessen and Adrian broke the kiss long enough to take a quick breath before Sidney pulled him back and stole the breath he had just taken.
He sunk to his knees on the floor when it was over, breath heaving in his own chest as he tried and failed to catch it. Long limbs were tucked as neatly as he could manage beneath him and he was able to lean forward resting his folded arms against his partner’s knees and tucking his chin against them. One of Sidney’s had moved from the back of his neck to slowly and soothingly card through his hair, and as Adrian’s eyes flickered he wondered which of them the soothing gesture was meant for.
The man’s other hand remained on his neck.
“ Thank you for that, Adrian.” He began, the hoarseness in his voice from earlier already barely a memory. His shoulders were set straighter, and the pallor had gone from his face and the intensity in his eyes had returned with a vengeance. It was mesmerizing as always to see the difference and again Adrian felt content and right with himself for being able to provide that for someone such as Sidney.
The fingers in his hair slowed. “ I’m sorry for my behavior, it was terribly rude of me to speak to you like that. You were simply doing as I asked, and you did a very good job of it I’m sure.” Sidney paused for a moment. “ He won’t be a nuisance for us anymore?”
“ No sir.” There was much more to say about the task in question, but it could wait until later. Adrian always found words difficult afterwards, and he had conveyed the important piece of it. It was finished.
The hand on his neck had slipped around to unbutton the collar of his cassock, exposing the thin leather band that fit snugly around his neck to the air. Sidney’s breath caught.
“ You haven’t taken it off?”
“ No, Sir.”
Sidney let out a pleased little hum, nothing more than a rumble in the back of his throat, and Adrian’s mouth twitched slightly and he looked up, eyes focused and alert.
Sidney smiled, his fingers gripping the leather collar tightly enough that Adrian felt his knuckles digging into his throat. He inhaled, but didn’t take his gaze off of Sidney.
“ Good boy,” He said, and though there was a hint of condescension his tone, Adrian still felt that rush of pride that always left him feeling a bit unsettled and confused and he found himself sitting up a bit straighter. Making the other man proud was important to him, and if that was how he chose to express it- Adrian was content with that.
“ Now get up here, you’ve been gone far too long.”
I guess the rally at Texas A&M was supposed to be a “white lives matter” rally, according to the Vice article
there is a “free speech rally” scheduled for Saturday on Boston commons, which sounds slightly more vague but appears to be organized by the same type of people
Boston has over 14 times the population of Charlottesville, and it’s also more accessible via public transit so more people CAN get there. If it’s allowed to take place, the rally will be bigger and bloodier and it seems stupid not to shut it down after what we’ve already seen happen.
