me: so whatcha been up to? how's married life been treatin you? ready to file for div-

kris: shut up

kris: well, uh, lessee...we got married about two months ago...

kris: pet took me to humilau!

me: the beach!

kris brightens up like an excited child

kris: yeah! yeah...i had a lot of fun. i really love the beach.

me: i know

kris: we stayed for a while, but i wish i could go back ...

me: hey, are you still in school?

kris: i'm withdrawing at the end of the year, yeah.

me: you're kinda stupid

kris: i kinda get that a lot

[bluruts]

me: you quit your job!

me: you're packing.

kris: :::::)))))

me: i'm gonna smack that look off your face if you dont say anything

kris: i think i'm gonna be a farm hand. farm hand? ranch hand?

kris: i'm gonna work at the flocessy ranch, I think that'll be good for me. learn to work with some Pokemon yanno.

me: are you sure that's a good id-

me: ok

me: :3 have fun

This is unusual. Kris wakes in a slight sweat, eyes peeled open and body immobile. She feels one sensation primarily: the lingering breeze that managed to make itself welcome the night before, a small chill in the bedroom invited by a cracked window. 

She props herself up, careful not to disturb the body next to her. You could describe her movements as stealthy, but that implies there is something to be hidden. To "sneak" doesn't exactly have the brightest connotation, does it? 

And so Kris steps with the lightest feet, drawing back the gently waving curtain before her to take fill her lungs with morning. Questions what exactly she is yearning for, and when a sprout of longing managed to find a home in her chest. 

Beasts weren't meant for captivity, and Kris wonders--right, it must be this. 

It's the ocean. 

[bluruts]

kris is being very stubborn 

she'd planned to drop out like. months ago but now she doesn't wanna go it. "everyone's gonna think i'm leaving because of them (wipes nose) but i'm not. it's for my own reasons!!" 

which is funny and also stupid because she stayed so long bc of her friends. 

so now she's 

just there 

laying in an empty room face down on what was hika's bed

kris: Can you believe it? They're all dropping out before I am! Ahaha...haha...

me: ..

me: are you crying

kris: (sniff) I--I'm cryin but my dic

me: can you not

[bluruts]

me: do you listen to any old show tunes

kris: huh

me: jazz standards? ella fitzgerald? there's this song--

kris: (picks nose with pinky like belligerent shounen hero) ehhh?

me: come ON i finally come up with something Actually Good and you're not capable of .. doing it, are you?

kris: (flicks booger)

me: oh come on, you're just being difficult

me: WORK WITH ME PLEASE

nate: uh??? Can you write a card to someone who you have a crush on?? 'Cause I wanna write one! I've been working a, ahah, a poem that compares Blue to a flower--it was kinda awkw..ard talking about the stamens but--

me: Okay. Don't do that. Give up on that, actually. Tear it up and throw it away and go out and catch some bug types instead.

nate: but I--

me: next

Copycat: I bought cards for my friends!

me: ya don't have any

Copycat: (sticks tongue out at me) I'm gonna make some in time, don't worry!!

me: next

A rumble is heard from another room.

Kris emerges, walks past the circle of characters, mumbles something incoherently and goes into the kitchen.

all: ...

Archer: I'll be celebrating in solitude, actually, I won't be participating in any romantic activities.

Kris: (calls from the other room) CAAAAANDIIIICE

Archer: (visibly flinches)

Snickering is heard from the kitchen. Nate looks increasingly unhappy.

me: .....shizzy

Copycat: Smiley swimsuit's at the gym, you oughta know that. He's been working hard lately~~~~

me: I'm not even gonna bother asking Jeanne, so, kuuhuhhhhhrIRIIIISsstEEeEE N N n n n

Kris: (returns from the kitchen, stops and looks at the lot before contorting her face into a spited expression of utter displeasure. She then retreats to her room.)

all: ...

me: love you too.

Copycat: ...I don't like her...

[bluruts]

Kris: who--what. is that

Copycat is listening to music through pink headphones, bouncing along to the words she's mouthing near perfectly.

me: that

me: I needed a challenge
