“You could have died!” Haruhi scolded him, while helping him to his feet. “Good grief what were you thinking?!” She said. 

Haruhi had only saw the commotion only a few blocks away as she was heading to the convenient store. She knew that she should leave it be, but she rushed over and weaved her way through the panicking crowd being handled by the fire fighters. She saw him, on his hands and knees singed by the fire inside and she hurried over.

Thankfully, the paramedics were on standby treating the survivors. She helped him make their way over to them.

“- Petra?” She’d question as she sees the other girl. She had only met her once, with Chihiro, and it wasn’t exactly under the best circumstances- as he was freaking out because she was freaking out, but she remembered the other girl enough to recognise her. “Right? Do you remember me-”

There is a tourist standing in front of an old building. He's smiling at it in a somewhat sad, but knowing way. A ferret is clinging to his shoulder, sniffing the air and making chittering noises.

     She listened quietly, and as she did, she wasn’t able to bring herself to admit that she was sort of the same as the others. How she didn’t exactly look for the other things…She should’ve been more perceptive, less…selfish. She’d been so arrogantly self centered, hadn’t she–

     “Y-you’d…be friends wi…with me? Are you sure? Your fan club probably wo-wouldn’t…like that…”

He wouldn’t consider it selfish--not really. After all, how was she supposed to notice these things when she had always been on the outside? If the outside sohma clan knew even half of what was going on in the inner circle, it would never be allowed.

“--I don’t care what they would like. They’re not my friends,” he sounded almost bitter for a moment before smiling kindly at her. “--Yes, I want to be friends with you. I chose who my friends are. No one else.”
