[Fragmentation AU] The cast react to their SG counterparts: the tier list

am I 100% sure of all their characterizations? not completely, but I feel like this is a close approximation of how they would react for the first few encounters with their SG counterparts. if any of this changes in the future i will update it.

explanation of tiers and some choices below cut

tier 1: genuine visceral hatred

idk how to explain this beyond 'complete hatred upon first encounter'. I'm not 100% sure about Hot Spot to being here (I don't see him fitting into any of the other tiers, fear/silent judgment doesn't feel right for someone with his levels of energy), but everyone else in this tier is solidly in this tier.

tier 2: FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT

yeah this is just the tier of guys who will just try to fight their counterparts upon meeting. most of these can arguably go into the first tier as well but this tier in general is less 'personal animosity' and more combative in general.

shoutout to air raid who would challenge his sg version to a game of chicken in the skies. the latter would scream in terror.

tier 3: AHHHHHHHHHHHH

I kinda made this tier for these two especially. Breakdown and Strafe are both described to be incredibly anxious and im pretty sure they first and foremost will freak out and start shooting immediately. In contrast to tier 1's hatred this is the tier of pure terror. they shoot not out of willingness to fight and more from the terror of seeing your some guy who looks exactly like you.

tier 4:

the tier of this gif.

not exactly rage, but more fear and confusion. upon more encounters, some of them may move to tier 1. but this is mostly a first impressions tier list.

swindle is the lone con in this tier, and that is because his sg counterpart belongs to tier 1 who would punch him into the stratosphere.

tier 5:

those who have the confidence to declare their own superiority. especially hook who is confident that the other hook is a worse medic (which he... might be right about). i dont think i need to explain anyone in this tier. except maybe brucie because this AU's version of him is very prideful.

also slings is the lone bot in this tier lmao.

tier 6: you are better than me

the scavenger tier... for now (someone else will occupy this tier when i make the sg version). sgf scavy is dedicated and a perfectionist who's great at his jobs, and i see fragmentation scavenger feeling like he's the teammate his own team deserves. I don't see anyone else in this universe feeling inferior to their counterparts, so yeah he's alone here.

tier 7: the speechless tier.

some overlaps with tier 4, but with less nervousness/confusion and more... judgmental, maybe. they're not scared of their counterpart per se, but not complete ambivalence either. at worst they just spiral silently.

tier 8: the yeah ok tier.

the tier of 'genuinely not emotionally affected by it too much'. the tier of characters who don't really feel much about their differences outside maybe the surprise of seeing a mech that shares their overall look excluding paintjob. and once that wears off it's just another enemy to fight.

devs would be disappointed in sgf devs missed potential. and the others i just dont super see them worked up by their counterparts.

tier 9: actually getting along aka the scrapper tier

This is. Genuinely the Scrapper tier. as much as a diva sgf scrapper is, i don't see the two of them conflicting. at all. I think they can get along and enjoy each other's company and share stories about their team (sgf scrapper might get unsettled by stuff he learns about the other constructicons, but he will be polite enough to not say it out loud). Pretty much the only guy who can sit down and have a sort of peaceful conversation with his counterpart.

there will be a version of SG POV in the future but for now enjoy this random piece of fragmentationverse content.

Computron spun around in his chair, looking a little miffed about being interrupted. "I am doing fine, Defensor. What is the matter?"

"I heard you arguing with someone, and it sounded pretty intense." Defensor frowned. "Is everything alright?"

"Oh, you were worried about that... I was entertaining myself with a scientific debate on whether water can be considered wet." Ignoring the sheer confusion on Defensor's face, Computron continued. "Given how both stances have valid points, I have yet to come to a conclusion."

"... Why?"

"I was bored."

"As a fellow Autobot, yes."

"You sure there isn't more to it?"

"What are you implying?"

"You care about Fenny more than you want to admit, no?"

Megatron: YES, THE COMBINER EXPERIMENT IS A PERFECT SUCCESS

pretty much what happened :D

by the time devastator started showing signs of fragmentation menasor and bruticus were already in the picture. the decepticons have spent too many resources on creating and maintaining the gestalts to just scrap them. both the combiners and their components are varying levels of pains in the aft, but they are still kept around as they are still useful extra firepower.

fun fact: the con combiner trio first realized the something was going on when one of devastator's leg fell off, transformed and started moving around. devs called the other two to his room in a panic cuz 'holy shit my leg fell off and may be sentient'. upon arriving at the scene, menasor panicked and kicked the approaching payloader like a football (you know which leg).

FYI, this scene kickstarted the entire idea for this AU. fic currently in the works.

how the combiners think about their sg counterparts in the first crossover event

Devastator: he's more? disappointed than anything? he finds sg dev's commitment to healing and building over destruction baffling when destroying things is just so much better. there's not a lot of malice or hatred involved, it's more of a 'come on. i know you can do better' thing.

Menasor: jealous. very jealous of the relationships sg menas has. he's nicer, and hence weaker, but he's??? so much happier??? and can actually hold himself against him in a fight??? and the other two like and respect him (things he does not get from his own devastator and bruticus)??? how??? why can't he have that???

Bruticus: utter disdain for how small and pathetic (i need to find another adjective dammit) his counterpart is. sg bruticus is not the most confident and secure and it shows, which further fuels bruticus' ego as the superior version. he's gonna taunt and bully the hell out out of sg bruticus no questions asked.

Superion: somewhere between disdain, irritation and disappointment. sg superion is just straight up a yapping angry brat. he's gonna give his counterpart an angry dad stare (don't ask me how he does it through the visor you kinda just feel the vibe) while beating the scrap out of sg peri.

Defensor: horror. actual horror. this sadist in the guise of a rescue team who abuses his alt modes to torment humans and cybertronians alike goes against everything defensor personally stands for. it probably sends him spiralling into existential crisis and worrying if one day he'll become like his counterpart.

Computron: i think he'll straight up bluescreen meeting his SG counterpart. nothing he says makes sense. everything he does inside and outside combat is so chaotic and erratic it's difficult to make any sort of calculation and prediction. confusion doesn't even begin to describe it. he's gonna overheat somebody help him-
