It’s been a bit! I have a few more involved posts in the works, but for now, why not ease back in to Glossopteris with a travelogue? In June
My polar travels in Norway. It was wonderful to experience the place that shaped a person like Amundsen, and getting to explore the Fram made my boat nerd heart sing. I’ll always remember the long evenings on the fjord, staring wistfully across the water at the ghosts of the past.
Highly recommend the Fram museum and the other Bygdøy museums if you're ever in Oslo. Fram also features quite a lot of info about the Gjøa and other polar expeditions, including The Franklin Expedition.
This is what I bought in the fantastic shop. Unlike most gift shops, the books/souvenirs are actually reasonably priced and there were a lot of books that I'd never seen before.

Highly recommend if you're ever visiting Oslo 10/10.

Norway
Photographer’s note: Gjøa was the first vessel to transit the Northwest Passage. With a crew of six, Roald Amundsen traversed the passage in a three-year journey, finishing in 1906.
Some pictures I took at the Fram Museum in Oslo, Norway. It's all dedicated to polar exploration and the two original ships Fram and Gjøa are part of the exhibition.
Bygdøy Peninsula

Almost nothing seemed to have changed between my first two visits, but plenty by the time of my third visit, particularly the introduction of digital screens everywhere, and far more tourists it seemed. The peninsula can be reached by bus or more scenically by ferry from…
