Some interesting info from an article I found on James Gunn and the VFX team's approach on Rocket's design (link at the bottom):

This article seems to imply the reason we didn't get vol 2 Rocket's beautiful eyes is because it was too cartoony to James?

YEAH THEY DEFINITELY MADE HIM LOOK HEARTBREAKING, JESUS

GIVE HIM A BATH AND THEN FILL HIM WITH SOUP TILL THOSE RIBS ARE GONE

(sorry like his condition in the medbay table scene makes me so fucking sad for him every time like I can't stop being angsty about the implications this has about his self-care, or lack thereof. Hopefully post vol 3 Rocket is healthier)

The virtual sets are amazing.

Never realised how HUGE Knowhere's interior city really is, the movies don't give off that big of a scale as what is shown in the VFX Breakdown video.

What they showed in GotG 1, GotG 3 and the holiday special were basically just boroughs within this big city.

Short film directed by Luke Losey, with cinematography by Serge Teulon and creative direction by Ronnie Cooke Newhouse and Stephen Wolstenholme of House and Holme.

With 'Animal' by Miike Snow as soundtrack, Losey worked with visual effects firm Framestore to shoot 2D cut-out animations and a live 3D environment.
