Frances Foster was a regular on soap operas in the 1950s and 60s including The Secret Storm, The Guiding Light, and One Life to Live. She was a founding member of the Negro Ensemble Company in 1967. During the final five years of her life she was used frequently in Spike Lee films like Malcom X (1992), Crooklyn (1994) and Clockers (1995).
