Just found out that I missed qulification for this year’s State Championship by 3 points, I think I’m gonna cry...
Today were Regional Championships and I was able to shoot a new PB of 487 (262/225) at 70m. I haven’t been able to crack the 500 mark outdoors yet. After the first round I had high hopes but I messed up a couple of ends in the second (and ended up with four misses, which sucked), which was a little disappointing. But, hey, still new PB, so yay! :)
Last years limit to qualify for State Championships was 471 in my devision, so I have a small hope. I’ve only made it to State once so far and that was indoors. It would be awesome to shoot at State outdoors.
Update
So, I was not able to do any fine adjustments last thursday as planned - too many people, especially too many small children, to concentrate on something like that. I did try and play around with the brace height a little bit and after increasing it by about half a centimeter the bow did sound a little better when shooting. I shot about one hundred arrows that day and didn’t have any troubles with getting tired or losing strength, so no problems with the increased draw weight as well, yay.
On a different note, I somehow managed to hurt the wrist of my draw hand. Maybe it was too much shooting with the increased weight, maybe it was somehow during work, maybe it was a mix of both, I don’t know. But I woke up friday and it hurt a little and I woke up saturday and it hurts very much since then, so no shooting right now. I have the first competition of the season coming up next saturday and right now I’m not sure if I can participate, which would suck big time, since I already payed the money. I tried to rest the wrist as much as possible yesterday and today, but not much difference yet. I just hope it’s nothing bad and it will be gone in a couple of days - I hope it’s just a sprain or something, but right now it feels ver much like something could be broken...
when-it-rains-it-snows replied to your post “My new limbs are here and I’m in love with them - they are the most...”
Sorry, thumb - I tweaked the tiller and actually dropped strands from the string, but my limbs are very light.
Right, tiller! Can’t forget the tiller, good point, thank you!
I don’t think dropping strands would work for me - I’m using 16 strands right now and my limbs are 40# @ 28″, so I think they might be too heavy for a 14 strand string. Actually I thought I would need to add some, to make the string slower? Because my theory right now is, that because of how fast the limbs are and how light the arrows and string are compared to it, the arrows nock out too early and too much of the kinetic energy goes into the bow instead of into the arrow, hence the vibration. So I thought, reduce speed by adding strands, you know?
But, we’ll see, tomorrow I’ll start playing around with brace height and tiller first, only if nothing comes out of that I’ll think of something else.
My new limbs are here and I’m in love with them - they are the most beautiful limbs there ever will be <3
2# more but also much faster than my previous ones - I was able to move up my sight by a whole centimeter and a half in addition to moving out one notch at the extender bar when shooting at 70m. I have to do fine adjustments tomorrow though. The bow sounds way to loud right now with those new limbs. I’ll probably will have to make a new string as well, even though the old one seems to fit and even the nocking point seems to be fine where it is right now. But that loud vibrating noise the bow makes with every shot is annoying and I won’t rest until I found the reason behind it...
My new limbs are supposed to arrive tomorrow! Yay! :D
Just got notice that my new limbs will be about two weeks. It’s about what I expected, so, yay, limbs are coming soooooonn! :D
I finally, finally, finally ordered my new limbs. They should be here by the end of this week or the beginning of next hopefully. I had to change dealers, since the one I ordered from in hte past is getting on my nerves lately and has given me false information multiple times during the last two weeks.
Also, I won’t be able to affored new arrows for a while after all. I ment to buy some together with the limbs, but now I have to spent the money to be able to get some pictures for a job application. And isn’t it gross that one measly picture eats up the budget for new arrows almost entierly? But there is the photographer, new clothes, make up, which I didn’t own since I usually use none, and I didn’t even go to get a haircut because I didn’t want to pay for that on top of everything else. My arrows will fly like shit (they already do), but at least I will finally have the limbs I’ve wanted for two years now :)
