Quadrail Thoughts (5/11/20)
I’m reading the fourth book, and something that bugs me is that Bayta is still afraid of Frank when he gets angry. That’s not good.
Frank’s interpretation is that Bayta is protective of the Spiders because being framed for something they didn’t do reflects badly on the Chahwyn, but I think it’s because they’re living AI beings who don’t deserve to be falsely accused of something. And she never actually controls the Spiders, they just obey her, because actively controlling them would make her no different than the Modhri.

The more I read about Frank Compton the less I like him. He’s rude to Bayta by saying “Be a good girl and fetch me this” with the excuse that he was trying to judge her “temperament,” and so far he has never stopped referring to her as “girl.”
I’m currently on the second book called the Third Lynx, and there’s a scene where the fiance of the guy they’re chasing is distressed and “vulnerable” because her friend died and he was thinking that he liked this side of her because it was more “human.”
I have no one to fangirl with about Timothy Zahn’s Quadrail series. This is a tragedy.
okay so Compton’s apartment contains a tea table with a gun hidden under it
but I am firmly of the opinion it’s his coffee table and he just calls it that because of his hilarious obsession with iced tea
