Panicked Dwight w/ a comforting S/O

- Dwight is an anxious man. He may be the leader, but that doesn’t always mean that he’s ready to lead. He tries, he really does, especially during matches with you around. He wants to show to you that he’s good protective boyfriend material.

- Sometimes the pressure will go to his overactive head and he’ll be left after trials frantically reviewing the events of his previous actions with scrutiny. If he didn’t unhook enough people, he’ll be worried that everyone else hates him and that you’ll think he’s just a selfish coward.

- It doesn’t always help either when David gets aggressive to his face and yells at him after/during an intense match. Usually it's only your calm composure and kind words that keep him from having a full blown panic attack during trials.

- During one particularly rough trial against Michael, Dwight got more worked up than usual. He was with you, Jake, and David and it was clear that the match would be a terrible loss. Within the first couple minutes Jake had already gotten taken out and moried.

- The three of you, after only popping one generator, had come to terms with the fact that this match would result in all of you getting sacrificed or killed by The Shape. This doesn’t sway Dwight, as he tries to keep a brave face for you and David. David doesn’t particularly buy this and insults Dwight sporadically through the rest of the match.

- This boy refuses to leave your side for the rest of the match, quietly giving orders to try and at least make the trial a little more even. Spoiler alert: it does not go as planned.

- When Michael inevitably finds all of you, Dwight jumps in front of you to give you an opening to run. Unfortunately, he blocks David’s way out, setting the rugged risk taker aflame with anger and desperation.

- This honest mistake sets off a chain reaction of Michael completely avoiding Dwight and lunging for David who leads the stalker over to you. It takes little over a minute for Michael to down you and David before also getting Dwight who was trying to save you.

- After it’s all over, you look around for him at the campfire. You see Jake and a fuming David but your sweet Dwight was nowhere to be found. You decide to look for him over in the woods, at a special place where the two of you like to talk and relax.

- At this point the two of you aren't dating, but it was pretty clear to everyone that you cared for and loved each other dearly. Dwight is still a little scared to ask you to be his officially

- Anyways, you find your nervous leader holding himself by a secluded tree near your spot. You make your presence known, not wanting to spook him like how Ghostface sometimes does to survivors outside of the camp.

- “Hey, what’s going on love?” you murmur quietly and sit a little in front of him, trying to give him space in case he doesn’t want to be touched. His once silent sobs now break through the foliage loudly. “I’m so sorry. I’m just such a failure and a burden” He weeps and backs away from you.

- “Please don’t say that,” you beg and look at him with glassy eyes, “I love you and need you. Can you take deep breaths with me.” You take notice of his incoming panic attack from the way his breathing was becoming irregular.

- He uncharacteristically pulls you close to him and the two of you count together in the now calmed forest. You sit together in silence, taking in each other's presence. It’s not long before he’s resting his head on your chest. You stroke his tangled raven locks and gaze at him with a type of love that he’s never seen before

- He breaks the silence first, “I’m sorry I couldn’t save you”. You hum and reassure him that it’s ok. He almost passes out when you ask him to be your boyfriend right after that. His wide doe eyes are stuck in shock. “Is that a yes or no?”, you ask, he’s nodding frantically now. You giggle a little at his reaction and continue to hold him tightly. The two of you at peace amongst the ominous atmosphere.

- “I love you so much, Y/N” he declares in that instance. You kiss his forehead lightly and reassure him that you love him too and would never leave him. The two of you cuddle into each other's warmth, you were sure that nothing in the fog could stop you two now that you were together.

BONUS

Danny was lurking around the campfire, looking for some poor survivor to surprise. He couldn't harm anyone outside of trials, but it sure was fun to scare the remaining light out of them.

He chuckles when he sees his two favorite survivors cuddled up and asleep against a tree. He takes his camera out and takes a picture of the happy couple. Frank owes me some streamers he chuckles and makes his way back to the killer camp, deciding just this once to leave the two at peace.
