Sam Winchester had a lot of experience with tricksters. At least, that's what he thought, for a long while. True - he did go through hell, through hundreds of Tuesdays, in a very trickster-esque kind of plot. But, then he found out that was Gabriel. An angel. Not a trickster at all. 

So, as it turned out, he'd never actually met a real one. Still, he did know how to kill them for real. And that might come in handy with this girl right here.

Because he didn't know if the feisty woman was a trickster. But he was sure getting some vibes.
