I think Amercans view race/ethnicity differently? When I ask a felow White American what their nationality is, they will generally assume I mean their ancestry, and will tell me where their closest not-born-in-America progenitors are from. Because (for most the people I know anyway) we mosty deal with other White Americans, being Ethnically a "White American" is so defalt we never bring it up. So I guess the asumption is that an Irish person would do the same with their foreign-born progenitors

That is just a theory anyway. ALso, sorry for the random missing letters in that ask. My question as juuuuust too big for the text limit, so I just deleted some random letters where I thought the meaning would still be clear until I had enough letters to finish "progenitors"

I think that is definately part of the problem. The person I was talking to was Irish though and on further inspection, a massive racist. So I think he was trying to deny my Irishness because the idea of me being Irish made him uncomfortable. 

Honestly, considering I was born here and have lived here my whole life. If someone tries to tell me that I’m not Irish. They’re probably a racist. 

I can kinda understand where an American is coming from with that nonsense but if you’re European and think that way, you’re probably a racist.

I’m Grateful that band is Dead. If I wanted to listen to 45 minute long country songs I’d paulstretch Dolly Parton. I thought I was at a Disturbed concert once, but it turns out I was just listening to two monkeys fucking at my local zoo.

Honestly, I think it might be mentally healthy for you to take a break from Social Justice-y type internet posts. You seem to take them very personally, and while improving yourself is good, I think you are a decent person putting yourself under a lot of pressure and deserve a break.

It’s true, I’ll see one post about a thing and then my obsessively worrying about it for like a week. I have an awful tendency to obsessively worry, especially when it concerns my own morality, that has lead me into some pretty dark places in the past.

But, I live on this site. This is my “front page of the internet” as it were.

And it’s saturated with that content.

And I don’t want to avoid being educated/informed/called out if I actually am doing something wrong, problem is I second guess myself constantly and never am able to tell when I actually am doing something wrong.

Argh.

That does sound like a hassle. I know next to nothing about programming, so it is cool that you are learning. Fingers crossed for less bugs in the future.

yeah definitely. next time will probably be easier since i’m more practiced with this scripting language, so i won’t have to keep looking up how stuff works, and i’m more familiar with common errors so i can watch out for those

I actually started relatively early! obviously not early enough, but it felt like I started at a responsible time. that’s the problem with programming assignments though, if everything goes right it takes like 30 minutes, but you can get hung up on a single bug for hours...

Not being close with your actua siblings is a pretty likely cause behind being invested in fictional ones honestly. Also they are one of my favorite dynamics if well written as well, so it is not for sure some freudian nonsnse

that is fair but also i was invested in fictional siblings long before my sister and i stopped talking and probably even before i realized that our relationship was awful and toxic so?? ~mystery~
