I. Trip to Tokyo!
After being invited by a certain scheming captain, Team Karasuno agrees to take a trip together to see a pretty lights show that is held in Tokyo every year. Ennoshita gets a polaroid camera from his parents as an early Christmas gift and decides to take pictures of everything.
When the crow parents buy food for everyone, Suga comments on how cute the festive wrapping is. Ennoshita decides that’s a good time to snap a photo!
II. I Saw Mommy Kissing Dad Under the Mistletoe
Just as Tokyo has a lights show each year, Karasuno’s volleyball teams have Christmas parties each year. This year, Noya brings along a mistletoe, saying, "Christmas is the holiday of love!"
"He’s not exactly wrong," Sugawara agrees, though he is pretty sure Noya is talking about the kind of love that is usually celebrated on Valentine’s Day.
Noya and Tanaka take it upon themselves to push couples beneath the mistletoe, in the name of love!
Of course, there is only one couple that can lead them into this new-found tradition:
Karasuno’s Parents
Daichi and Suga are both caught off guard and embarrassed, but end up sharing a deep kiss beneath the mistletoe. The second and third years cheer! The first years almost die of embarrassment and maybe awkwardness, too, because sometimes it feels like their captains really are their parents and how else can you feel when you watch your parents kiss?
III. Holiday Cheer
Daichi gets Sugawara a limited edition shrimp shirt for Christmas, which Suga is extremely excited about. He gets even more excited once he learns Daichi got one for himself, so they could match.
(It might be tacky, but if it makes Suga happy, it’s worth it, right?)
IV. Trip to Tokto Part 2!
Suga, on the other hand, buys two tickets to see a Christmas ballet in Tokyo. Ennoshita gives him his camera, saying the pictures of the ballet will be beautiful!
What ends up being more beautiful than that, though, is how is Daichi looks when the ballet is over and they’re discussing it outside. That’s the best picture Suga takes all night~.
Gift Exchange
Daichi gets Suga those matching holiday shrimp shirts, of course, but he also takes Suga out to dinner at a nice restaurant the following evening.
Suga scolds him on this, insisting he help Daichi pay for the bill because Dai should not be spending this much money on a Christmas present for him! He is really flattered, though, too.
The date is a little awkward because all the other couples at the restaurant are waaaay older than them. They have more fun watching Christmas specials and cuddling on Daichi’s couch afterwards!
And, of course, Suga takes Daichi to watch The Nutcracker in Tokyo which is fun for them both. They love their team, but it is nice going out with just the two of them every now and again! (Although, they do comment on how Hinata would probably think this part was so "Guwaaah!" and how Kageyama would probably say, "Why can’t you jump that high, dumb ass?")
What Else They Got
Both of their parents get them home decor things for when they go off to college. New bedding, maybe a study lamp, cute dishes, things of the like.
On top of that, Sugawara’s parents give him money to go clothing shopping, while Daichi’s parents get him socks. Christmas socks.
↳ Kagehina
I. Those Lights Were Like Bam!
Neither Kageyama nor Hinata have seen the lights show in Tokyo, so, of course, they are completely amazed and blown away by it. (Christmas spirit game too strong)
Hinata insists the beauty of it all just hits you like bam! But Kageyama says he’s a dumb ass because the beauty of it all hits you like poof!
(Noya is the only one that understands them in the slightest; Ennoshita is like, “Wtf are you guys talking about,” but manages to get a super cute picture of them!)
II. Acceptance Letter Card
Kageyama is a regular on the court and at Hinata’s house anymore, winning himself the acceptance of Hinata’s little sister. She draws him a card and bakes him a batch of cookies that she makes SURE her onii-chan brings to the Christmas party so that he can give it to The Scary Nii-chan!
Hinata does as directed (little sisters are scary when they’re mad, okay) and Kageyama is more excited than anyone would have anticipated.
Tanaka and Tsukki laugh, Yamaguchi and Ennoshita are a little surprised, and Suga can’t help but find the moment to be endearing.
It’s a charming touch to the Christmas party.
III. First Christmas Kiss… Kind Of?
Noya and Tanaka’s next mistletoe victims are none other than Karasuno’s two problem children! They are surprisingly quiet at first, doing nothing more than turning their backs to one another.
Eventually, Noya convinces Hinata that it his duty to keep the spirit of Christmas alive and that he and Kageyama have to uphold Karasuno’s newest tradition!
Inspired, Hinata gets the nerve to confront an embarrassed Kageyama. The two glare at each other beneath the mistletoe for a solid minute before coming at one another waaaay too quickly.
Is it a kiss or a headbutt? No one is quite sure. Kageyama’s nosebleed afterwards doesn’t help them reach any conclusion, either.
IV. Forever Amazed At How Amazing You Are
Kageyama gets Hinata a special edition holiday volleyball for Christmas (look to picture III for reference).
It’s so tacky, everyone else thinks, but Hinata is completely awestruck by Kageyama’s gesture.
"You’re amazing!" he blurts out, which is enough to turn Kags’ entire face red.
"I guess Rudolph has a very shiny face this year," Tsukki comments.
"Nice one, Tsukki!"
He and Yamaguchi both laugh and Kageyama’s face becomes more red for a different reason.
Gift Exchange
Kags gets Hinata that dorky volleyball and Hinata gets Kageyama those new knee pads he was talking about that one time they went to the mall together.
Both of them are so happy because what else could make these volleyball enthusiasts happy?
What Else They Got
Hinata’s parents get him a new jacket and scarf for winter, as well as a stuffed animal his sister picked out for him. He is very happy and very cozy from then on.
Kageyama’s parents get him those really expensive volleyball shoes he has been wanting for months. They also get him those knee pads he wanted, so he ends up with two pairs of new knee pads and some really fancy new shoes.
↳ Tsukkiyama
I. Tsundere Lights
Tsukki and Yamaguchi show up to the lights show a little later than everyone else (together, of course, which Ennoshita captures on camera). Tsukki pretends the lights really aren’t that cool, even though they really are. Yamaguchi knows this and smiles at how dazzled Tsukki looks when he (accidentally) lets his guard down.
The two end up looking through some stores afterwards and Yamaguchi buys Tsukki a dinosaur ornament! (Tsukki buys them both hot chocolate later on and that makes Yamaguchi even happier than the lights show had)
II. Mistletoe Reluctance
Tanaka and Noya shove these two cuties under the mistletoe, much to Tsukki’s dismay (you secretly wanted it to happen Tsukki don’t even try). Seeing Tsukishima embarrassed by this, Kageyama decided to snap a picture. (Something about getting that bastard back for calling him Rudolph) What a picture he snapped!
III. Mitstletoe Acceptance
"Tsukishima, you can’t ruin tradition!" Noya and Tanaka chime. Kageyema makes a snarky comment in line with the importance of keeping tradition (even though he had been an embarrassed nerd that was like hell no, wow) and Tsukki eventually caves in and reluctantly agrees.
This makes for a very happy and very surprised Yamaguchi whose heart almost EXPLODES from joy when he and Tsukki share a chaste kiss beneath the mistletoe~.
"Captain, Yamaguchi isn’t breathing!"
Both Hinata and Yachi are very scared, but Sugawara assures them that everything is fine.
IV. Interview For Naught
After convincing Ennoshita to let them use his camera (how did they manage that we just don’t know), Noya and Tanaka decide that they are going to hold Christmas Interviews!
Yamaguchi is their first subject and nervously agrees to go along with it all. Unfortunately, his interview is cut short when Kiyiko makes a late appearance. In his excitement, Noya takes a blurry picture and almost drops Ennoshita’s camera (he is banned from further usage).
Yam’s picture is blurry, but that’s okay! Yachi borrows the camera for a bit and manages to capture a pretty good shot herself:
Gift Exchange
Yamaguchi is the best boyfriend in the whole world, so he gets Tsukishima a gift card to his favorite bakery that sells the best strawberry shortcake e v e r . He also gets Tsukki a toy dinosaur to add to the collection on his shelf (like he does every year).
Tsukki, on the other hand, gets Yamaguchi a new volleyball, saying he’s going to need it with how much he practices! He probably also gives Yams one of those cheesy home-made coupons like “Good For One Free Kiss!” Which is so dorky and embarrassing but makes Yams so very happy~.
What Else They Got
Tsukki’s parents get him those super cool Anext kitty headphones.
And Yamaguchi’s parents get him really expensive skin care treatment products!
