freckles luck character of all time. she's been exhausted her entire life. her first memory is seeing another version of herself shot in the head. he isn't a fucking rose red. she'll never stop being a rose red. she's fought for the rebellion for twenty-seven years and doesn't trust them as far as she can throw them. she's thirty years old and also fifty-four. her only family died decades ago. she doesn't recognize them in herself. she is so much like them. she has committed genuine war crimes on both sides of the conflict. she’s killed countless rose reds, directly and indirectly. she refuses to keep killing them. she doesn’t think they’re people, but she thinks they could be. she’s a minor historical figure. she’s toxic in video game voice chat. she’s even bisexual

now that you all know who Red is. Red and Freckles. spins them in the microwave they see themselves in each other. Red looks at Freckles and sees a possible future and Freckles looks at Red and sees a past she doesn't want to let happen again. They don't understand each other. Red trusts Freckles more than she trusts herself. She wishes Freckles listened to her more. Freckles loves Red like her child. She never wanted a child. She gave Red her last name and semi-illegally adopted her. She doesn't know how to be a parent. Red is two and twenty-six. If it weren't for Freckles, Red would be dead. Freckles would have been the one to kill her. Red tries not to think about that. Red forgets how dangerous Freckles is. Freckles has killed dozens of Rose Reds like her. If it weren't for Red, Freckles would leave her post and never have to deal with this shitty job again. Red can't leave, and Freckles has to stay to protect her. Red thinks she can protect herself. She doesn't know the first thing about protecting herself. She's glad Freckles is there to protect her. She wishes she could protect Freckles, too. Red is learning how to be a person. Freckles is teaching her. Freckles doesn't know how to let her grow. Red will grow anyway. Neither of them know what they're doing. They'll figure it out eventually <3
