Throwback Thursday: Before becoming CEO of Golin, Fred Cook was a record executive, Italian faux leather salesman, junior high substitute teacher in an inner-city, cross-country tour guide, cabin boy on a Norwegian tanker, and doorman at a four-star hotel. “When you reach the top, everything you say and do will be scrutinised by the press and the public,” Cook told the BBC. “Luckily, on the way up, nobody pays much attention, which allows those of us who lack the standard business prerequisites to improvise.”

The full line-up has been announced for the forthcoming charity showcase Songs I Wish I’d Written happening in Whelan’s this Thursday, June 5th.
Held in aid of Cystic Fibrosis Songs I Wish I’d Written will feature some of the countries most acclaimed songwriter’s performing personal favourite tracks of theirs as well as original material. The night will also be MC’d by stand-up comedian Fred Cook.
Included in the line-up for this Thursday’s concert in Whelan’s will be 2014 Meteor Music Prize winning Villager’s songwriter Conor O’Brien, Irish-indie legends Bell x1, Niamh Farrell & Podge McNamee from indie-pop outfit Ham Sandwich, singer-songwriter Gavin Glass, alternative-pop act the Walls and multi-talented party band Superfly.
Tickets for Songs I Wish I’d Written in Whelan’s, Dublin this Thursday (June 5th) are priced at €16.50 advanced & €20 on the night, and are available now via whelanslive.com. All Proceeds for this event will go towards TLC4CF.
