can you write something about amy and laurie standing under the mistletoe, like i got the idea but i couldn't come up with anything :/, take whatever prompt you wish for it, maybe?
“After you.” Laurie bowed slightly.
“No, please, I insist,” said Amy.
“Cowards,” Jo crossed the threshold and into the dining room like it was nothing.
Laurie glanced up at the tiny plant that was causing him so much anxiety. He wasn’t an anxious person by nature, but ever since he discovered his feelings for Amy (Amy, who was his sort-of ex’s little sister, and who was sort-of in a relationship with the son of a family friend) things had been a little… much for him. And of course, the holidays just had to get started as soon as they got back from L.A. (It was Jo’s fault. She always put the tree up the day after Thanksgiving, which inevitably got Marmee in the mood to host her annual charity bake sale, which Meg would need to take part in planning and organizing, which left Amy in charge of decorating.)
Amy herself was regretting the mischievous mistletoe she’d installed because this was Laurie. He was like a brother to her. She raided his fridge for lime yogurt and he pretended to be annoyed when he had to take her along to his uncle’s cabin retreat thing in the middle of nowhere. And she would not put it past him to sneak up behind her if she went first and then he would kiss her and she would like it and ruin everything.
After the way she’d teased Laurie at his uncle’s lakeside cabin, he was equally certain that she would not hesitate to sneak up behind him if he went first, and then she would kiss him playfully like it was nothing and he would like it and ruin everything.
“My uncle raised no heathens, ladies first,” Laurie gestured politely once more despite his gritted teeth.
“What is this? The seventeenth century? There isn’t even a door to hold open, just get a move on, Laurence.” She only called him ‘Laurence’ instead of ‘Laurie’ when she was really annoyed with him.
So he thought kissing him to mess with him would be the last thing on her mind and stepped forward.
Just then, Demi, Meg’s little son, knocked into Amy. She stumbled forward. Under the mistletoe. With Laurie. Dammit.
“Sorry!” Amy tucked a stray blonde tendril behind her ear. “I didn’t mean —”
“Oh, you mean you weren’t in charge of decor —”
“I thought it would be funny at the time!”
“Am I laughing?” He stepped towards her.
“No, you’re Laurie,” she deadpanned.
“That was such a dad joke, take it back.”
He cupped her face and kissed her.
For a second, he thought, fuck Fred Vaughn, he wasn’t good enough for Amy. Then he realized that was Amy’s decision to make, not his. And he released her, stepping out from under the mistletoe and into the dining area.
Amy touched her fingers to her tingling lips and thought, that had been one of their stupidest arguments yet. Also, now that she knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that she loved Laurie, she had to break up with Fred. Dammit.
