ey I saw your post abt feeling unsafe in the community. ik some other ppl have been coming forward in empathy and i just wanted to add my voice to that. I'm nonbinary and bi on the aroace spec, i've been out for six years and the gatekeepers on tumblr have rly destroyed any feeling of safety that I got from the online community :/ I hope that you don't let them fuck you up too much, we are as worthy of support and inclusion as the rest of them.

All the support I’ve gotten on that post has really touched me honestly. It’s been found by the gatekeepers more than a few times but there are a lot of other a-spec people coming forward to say they feel the same and even a few allosexuals coming forward to say they don’t agree with the discoursers.

I made that post right after finding out someone had screenshot a post I made to comfort Cisgendered het-aligned aces and posted it on their discourse blog to mock it. People were reblogging it with things like “I hope all cishet aces only have access to junk food” in response to my telling them to eat healthy if they can and I still am just dazed and in shock that anyone would do something like that.

It’s been a rough few days. Thanks so much for your words :)

Like, I can understand how you would say one dude having consistent threeways with two women is playing into straightness, but the “queering heterosexuality” thing was literally ascribed to an M/F couple. Like, by the law of numbers itself one of the people in that couple is already queer. 

IDK IDK, erasure is fuckin’ everywhere I guess.

oof yeah that night was rough man :))) but yeah it’s just a pain and recently i’ve been like 10 times more insecure abt how i talk and how none of it seems right or sounds right and i literally sometimes just leave out words bc i can’t manage to say them and i have to repeat things and start over and when i’m talking to people im not 110% comfortable with (like most teachers, coaches, some kinda-friends in school) i kinda just lose the ability to speak coherently and it’s such a pain in the ass bc i used to be so confident speaking and now like??? as stated i have trouble speaking to some people and even asking questions in class is getting hard bc my brain is just working too fast for my mouth and i feel like i just kinda shut down and sound like an idiot and omg sorry im rambling

i’m almost at the 8 month mark myself, it’s been a pretty smooth ride so far. almost too smooth, if you ask me, because i definitely can’t pass for anything other than girl even with all the stuff ive been shooting up on

so i've been trying to pinpoint what I find most potently dangerous about sga-model discourse and i think it's to do with the emphasis on visibility. lots of ppl have already pointed out that bi ppl in non-sg relationships are targeted by this bc it's brought back the whole ~passing privilege~ concept (and that's honestly horrifying) but idk if ppl are talking in depth about how this affects nb people and non-passing or closeted trans ppl.. (part 2) i remember when i first started exploring my gender identity there was a lot of hatekeeping towards nb people because ~technically you can pass!~ and the “real"trans ppl supposedly couldn’t… I felt pressured to present more obviously even tho I didn’t have the means to medically transition and couldn’t rly pass that way, and it put me in a lot of danger actually. young closeted trans ppl feel this pressure too. it’s seriously, SERIOUSLY dangerous to imply to vulnerable ppl that the only way they’re going to be deserving of protection or community is facing literal violence… I personally have known many nb kids like I was who were made to feel the same way, and scrambled to present as visibly trans somehow because they felt that otherwise they weren’t going to be allowed to claim their identity. and bi kids who felt unwelcome bc they happened to have a dif gender partner. this rhetoric pressures ppl to put themselves in danger.

This is an excellent point: Yet another reason “SGA” is terrible, terrible discourse. “Proving” that you’re gay enough to count is still extremely dangerous in a lot of places, folks. Try to remember that.
