on saturday at the start of the columbus pride parade queer and trans black activists stood in the route and called for seven minutes of silence to protest the acquittal of the officer who murdered Philando Castile.
the parade marchers & Stonewall columbus were supportive.
the police were not.
they maced the protesters. bashed them with their bikes. slammed them to the ground.
four were arrested. held in the back of a police van for hours in the 90+ degree heat without being offered medical attention. which is why we were told they “weren’t there” when we started calling the police.
3 of them will post bail but Deandre is being wrongfully charged with a felony.
