Do you remember? They're still waiting right where we left them, abandoned in the dark, accumulating dust as they reach for the stars denied to them. . .
//TRIGGER WARNINGS FOR MENTIONS OF SELF-HARM AND SUICIDE.
Maybe that's a bit of a dramatic opening line, but come on as I put the progress for the Zombie Tramp: Black post on the back burner for the time being, I want to talk about some things that were lost to time and a fandom that's been near and dear to me for years. I think we're going to start with some of the ones that are particularly fond to me. Welcome to a very brief touching on classic forgotten creepypastas.
"In any city or town, any state or country, in it any mental institution or halfway house and ask for-"
THE HOLDERS.
What are The Holders? The holders was a creepy pasta series about a massive collection of items that when brought together would supposedly bring about the end of the world and each one of them was associated with a different concept, object or ability. They would always start with the opening "in any City or town, go to any [blank] or [blank] and ask for the holder of [blank]", to which it will then describe the challenge and journey must undergo to get your hands on the object and how there are over 542 of them.
This series in particular seems to have inspired a lot of what the SCP Foundation would become and now is, it really does play into the objects that people are not allowed or supposed to know about or have being held the way with only specific requirements allowing you to get your hands on them.
Now despite the series actually getting through all of the objects, it does have a very unfortunate reality that because it is not character or creature driven or centric it tended to fall to the wayside and be lost to time and forgotten. Is another ritual creepypasta that failed to permanently at its mark on the community, because unfortunately for The Holders as cool of a concept as they are, you can only live for so long when you have no character-centered stuff to flush out the world you're creating. It's not about characters and grappling with the reality of them, it's just describing the challenges to get them. I'm personally looking for ways to incorporate them into my universe, and I look to you and ask you to do the same, do not let this concept fade away forever. If you are looking for cosmic horror and supernatural objects, look no further.
THE THING THAT STALKS THE FIELDS.
Art by GewsBumps Dude.
Personally one of my favorite creepypastas of all time and I recently got reminded that it exists thanks to the YouTuber Sacrow, I highly recommend checking out his content on creepypasta as he does very fascinating deep dives and talks about often forgotten characters and stories.
What is The Thing That Stalks The Fields?? We're never given a direct explanation of what this creature is, it's reasoning or anything of the such. However we do get a rather chilling story about a man whose isolated and trapped, the pet of a monster he doesn't understand.
Now, as much as this is one of my favorites of all time I'm actually not going to talk about it much at all and instead use this segment to advise you to go read it and then watch the short film. They're both a fantastic horror experience. And they read like a story and it's sequel. They're both fairly short and it is better if you just experience them.
THE SAND MAN
The same animatronic as Russian Sleep Experiment. Couldn't find a good version of it in color.
Yeah, another one of my favorites that really got lost to time, this is a story that stuck with me for years after and I really only let myself forget when my favorite narrator of that era was outed for the horrible person he is. Introduced to me by CreepsMcPasta, this is a creepy pasta that kept me up at night as my young self couldn't help but wonder if I was a product of The Sandman.
Sandman follows a father and his son as things to send further and further into a grimly supernatural scenario, things are getting worse and have locked themselves away in the house. For a time dear worried about burglars, he's doing his best to raise his son far away from any family they normally had and just moved back in after a robbery that left them shaken.
That is where the end of normalcy begins as over the course of the story we watch as his son begins to lose parts of himself. It starts with his voice, his father notices some things wrong when asking his son questions and no matter how hard he tries his boy cannot answer him. His hearing goes soon after... His sight... And doctors trips leave more questions than answers as they can't find anything wrong his boy is healthy and it says if he's always been absent of these things. It reaches its head one night as for days he's been seeing the sandman's stalk his home, crawling in impossible spaces visiting his son and eventually it leads to confrontation.
And confrontation is often filled with the unexpected. He never had a son. Sandman was just taking back with belong to it, telling him "I did this for you, you asked for a friend, for a son and I did this for you. But I need it back, I need to be whole again."
It ends with nobody else remembering his son, he's alone again and he can't stop thinking about the SandMan.
THE POCKET.
Art by Weasyl.
Now this is a real deep cut, killed before it could ever reach into the majority of the public consciousness, and it's kind of unfortunate why. See, Pocket was released during the beginning of the wiki actually getting a quality standard and the story unfortunately did not meet the standard of quality but would ultimately end up getting some narrations anyway.
So, what is The Pocket?
The Pocket is one of those creepypasta monsters that on a surface level is a very generic design and doesn't stand out all that much, but the concept of it as a creature makes it delightfully filled with potential scares. See, we are looking at a face stealer of sorts, a monster with extreme levels of intelligence.
The hole in its stomach is filled with teeth and tendrils designed to slowly pull the head of its victim in and digest it while it projects their face is stretched over the porcelain mask that it calls its own, looking incredibly wrong and off at close angles, but far enough away it is capable of being used as a lure for new potential victims for the monster.
Well it's not exactly the best and doesn't hold up to time, I do encourage you to check out the story and make some new ones, resurrect this creature that never got to breathe.
THE BLUE MAN.
Artist unknown, I tried to trace the threads back but it seems that they've left and shut down socials.
Okay, unfortunately, this is where we get to the trigger warning at the beginning of the post. And I do think it doesn't exactly age the best, even find an image that isn't just MrCreepypasta....
The blue man is formatted like an old urban legend that the story switches perspective on after each protagonist dies. It definitely seems to want to invoke a combination of Indrid Cold and more lovecraftian horror. The mental destruction from perceiving the unprecivable for but a fraction of a moment, comprehending the incomprehensible.
Unfortunately it's a kind of repetitive and very something else gimmick...
The story has in over reliance on, and there's no easy way to say this... Characters killing themselves and others in rather shocking ways. The only example of this I will hold up is the first one that gets very quick and out of the way.
The first encounter with the blue man scenes are initial protagonist accidentally running a man over and jumping out of his car to check if he's okay, this man was dressed in all blue from head to toe and well things initially seemed bad, he was okay... But just because the man was okay, doesn't mean this wayward traveler was. The man would turn around and lock eyes without protagonist, the obsidian depths with only white pinpricks gazing up, the smile too wide to be human, it was like being itself had stretched humans skin over a body that just barely filled it out properly.
After this encounter the protagonist rushed home, where he would ultimately stab his wife to death in the kitchen before entering the bedroom and digging out the shotgun kept in the closet. Two lives were taking that night.
And that becomes a pattern for all of those who encounter the Blue Man, hurting themselves and others, taking as many lives as possible as if the living world isn't safe for them or their loved ones so long as he exists.
And that's where we will end this collection, I do want to search out and talk about more creepypastas that are lost to time, and I certainly want to do posts on them individually to expand upon these stories and talk about what I do and don't like about them. So please, enjoy the beginning of The Creepypasta Archive Project, a new series of posts that'll be sporadic releases about things that I find interesting and how the community has forgotten them.
