Vairagya is a Sanskrit word which means non attachment or being free from desire. We are so identified with the ideas we have about ourselves, and also with the ideas that others have about ourselves. We are over identified with our goals and dreams, with our expectations and desires, with our beliefs and thoughts. But Yoga teach us to let go of all of our attachments, which makes me find so interesting the phenomenon on which most of us fail to pursue something, a state, to master some practices, to control the body and reach impressive postures. And this is exactly the opposite of what Vairagya is. Vairagya implies to practice with devotion, without this, it is very difficult to be non-attached to results. Devotion is what makes us practice but not to be a better person, nor to be more conscious, more flexible or strong, nor to be more close to enlightenment, not to be more yogi… Devotion is what makes us practice just because we trust and we believe in a world filled with love. Devotion is what makes us willing to surrender to contribute on others happiness, without expecting anything on return, not even the recognition of it. It is not about denying the desires and thoughts but developing the ability to regulated them, instead of being controlled by them. The supreme state of Vairagya comes from our essence, from our true nature, on which one is free from desires even from the more subtle constituents of that nature, and it is called Paravairagya. #vairagya #nonattachment #yogaphilosophy #yoga #svadhyaya #yogaisequanimity #freedomandlove #ibelieveinlove #nomadsoul #luanafarayoga
