"Ready?"
Detachment could also mean; not detachment from the world, but from the things imposed on the mind, by traditions & ideologies, holding you back from the fullness of participation & expression of self in the world
If you want to be at peace, purify the mind with surrender, meditations, devotions and service. If you want to realize, Nididhyasana
Sublime is the Spontaneous - Osho
There are two kinds of non-attachment: the ordinary and the sublime. That attitude of non-attachment to the objects of desire in which the seeker knows that he is neither the doer nor the enjoyer, neither the restrained nor the restrainer, is called ordinary non-attachment. Self Reassurance
Anybody in this world can go up to you and tell you how important you are, anybody in the world can go up to you and tell you how worthless you are, you walk past people every day happy, sad, mad, anxious, uneasy, or lost. You never don’t know what people are going through, you don’t know what their intentions were when they did the things they did, it could be good or it could be bad. It only takes you to detach yourself from being bothered by what others think or say. Sometimes we act out of emotion and sometimes we act out of logical reasoning, but you have the power to choose how you act, only you can define yourself, only you can care, only you can feel what you feel, only you can make your own mistakes, only you can make change, only you can be you.
It is only your place to choose, nobody can choose for you. Know your worth and move on.
HOW TO BECOME DISPASSIONATE?
"Dispassion is not only possible, but is present in all your states. You can see it, if you direct your attention that way.
You say you are attached to objects in the waking state. But what happens to that attachment, when you go into the dream state? Likewise, what happens to the objects of the dream state, when you come back to the waking state? Leaving these two states, you go into the deep sleep state, where there are no objects at all.
So there is dispassion throughout; and there is no necessity to cultivate it. Even in the waking state, when you are thinking of one object, are you not dispassionate as far as the rest of the world is concerned?"
~ Sri Atmananda Krishna Menon
