This was supposed to be a normal summer. He’d written the essays and sat through all paperwork to apply for the internship. He wanted the chance to work for Stark and even more so wanted the grant money that was promised with the internship.
He was positive that Aunt May wouldn’t have to worry about college tuition in a few years. Trying to keep grades high enough to attend Midtown as well as maintain an after school job to help out was already stress enough on him.
Not that he’d say it out loud though, he knew how hard his Aunt worked for the both of them. He just didn’t want her to worry about him.
This was supposed to be a normal summer. The run-in with that spider a few months back had changed everything. The opportunity to witness what the General Techtronics Corporation had been creating was an exciting last field trip before summer break.
Safe nuclear waste disposal was hardly that if a spider could so easily be contaminated and infect a high school student.
He just wanted his shot at greatness. To finally get himself and his Aunt into a better part of town.
To not have to worry each morning and afternoon as he crossed town to get to school.
This internship would fix that, no superpowers, however recent and extraordinary were going to stand in his way. He wasn’t an Avenger, he was just a kid.
He’d been so caught up in trying his hardest to do his absolute best that he hadn’t seen the other. The unexpected collision had knocked Peter backwards and onto the floor, sending the stacks of paper files everywhere.
“Geez- I -wow- you’re- uh- Cap-cap- Captain America.” He’s so floored by the encounter he hasn’t exactly made any movements to gather the files or to stand up. He’s transfixed on his idol, “ I’m, uh, well, hi there, geez oh man, I’m sorry....”
