A Song A Day #90 - At first I was going to write that “this is one of my favorite pieces of electronic dance music ever.” Actually it is one of my favorites from any genre. I’m just glad that I was listening to more House Music at the time then anything else or maybe this record never would appeared in my life.
That’s right I said “record”. I can still remember vividly my copy. It did not come in the sleeve shown in this video. The version I bought was one-sided and came in a thick plastic sleeve. One side had music and the other side was an etching.
I didn’t buy this as a collector’s item. At the time, I listened to just about everything that came out on Classic. So when I listened to this in the record store and that was that I had to have it. I don't recall ever having heard of Isolée or Freeform Five at the time I bought this.
I’m certain that I’ve heard the original version but I never owned it so I’m not familiar with it. Freeform Five’s Freeform Reform is perfect as far as I’m concerned. It is beautifully complex and ever-changing. When I listen to it and am fully engaged it can be a magical experience. It is a tune that richly rewards repeated listens.
