Worried Life Blues
Over the years, I’ve witnessed people in worried situations. I’ve become an expert observer of the outside world, quick to critic yet I too was a victim to the same stressful circumstances.
It was not until I started to become an observer of my own self did I develop the techniques to stop myself from worry, or at least not linger in it. I hope you can use it in your own circumstances:
1. Have a CONSCIOUS AWARENESS.
The first step is to define the situation. This begins by becoming consciously aware of yourself and becoming your own observer. Understand your surroundings. In order to change the situation you must have full realization of it. Stop. Take a deep breath and focus on the situation. Ask yourself, “Am I happy right now?”.
2. Be HUMBLE. When we are worried, our Ego is taking control of our thoughts and emotions. If you can be humble, then you have already taken a giant step. Begin to find gratitude in everything and ask yourself, “There is another person out there in far worse situation than me. I must be thankful that I am not in their shoes.”
3. Take RESPONSIBILITY.
Once you have achieved awareness and some sort of gratitude, you must now take full responsibility of your situation - free of judgement, blame, regret and prejudice. You are now arming yourself with all the power to change it. You will be in the moment where the past and future has no meaning because what’s important is what you are doing RIGHT NOW.
4. Define the WORSE-CASE SCENARIO. Next, ask yourself, “what is the worst thing that can happen?” Am I going to get eaten by Piranhas? Am I going to get fired? Will I lose all my money?
5. ACCEPTANCE.
Once you have established the worst thing that can happen, accept it. You cannot change something unless you are denying the possibilities. The goal now is to change that negative outcome. But remember, your first goal is always the first thing in front of. You must have the awareness and acceptance before you can move on to the next step.
6. Choose CHANGE.
One of the hardest yet simplest thing to do is choosing to change the situation. That’s right, you have a choice. When you think in this way, then you are giving yourself all the power, you are not limiting yourself by blaming others or relying on them to change things for you. Start improving on the worse. People who say that they actually enjoy the pain of worrying is just using it an an excuse, or a mask. Otherwise you wouldn’t have read this far. Our natural state is peace, you cannot alter your true self. You can be greatly influenced by the negativity of our world but in the end we all return to our state of bliss and peace. If you can achieve qualities such as goodness and compassion as soon as you can right then life for you will be amazing and you will have all that you desire.
