Sam Strahan

June 19, 2002 - September 13, 2017

Sam was a sophomore at Freeman High School in Rockford, Washington. Growing up Strahan enjoyed camping and spending time in the outdoors with his family.  He was part of the Boy Scouts of America with his father Scott acting as a troop leader. His father Scott passed away in June 2017. Classmates remember Sam as being funny, and making lots of jokes. On September 13, an armed student entered Freeman school, Sam tried to dissuade the killer from committing the senseless act of violence, for which he received a death shot. Sam was described as funny, wise, caring and real hero.

For anyone who doesn't know.

There was a school shooting today at Freeman High school. One was killed trying to talk the shooter out of it, and three more were shot, and are in the hospital in stable condition.

The school is just outside of Spokane Wa.

People at my school, other schools, the entire community of our city are incredibly saddened by what happened. Please, if you or someone you know are being bullied or anything else, please get help. Violence is never a good choice.

My thoughts go out to the freeman students and famillies.

No details yet, but a school shooting just outside Spokane today within the last hour or so. So that's not good. Ugh.

Just found out there was a school shooting back home in Washington. My brothers school went into lockdown but it was the next school district over that got attacked.

My brothers are 6 and 9. They pose absolutely no threat to anyone. I am two thousand miles away and terrified.

How evil do you have to be to wage war against unarmed children? This isn’t about mental illness. This is about the quality of someone’s character and heart. Even though it was at a high school, there is NO excuse for ever commiting an act like this.

the teen in question wasn’t bullied, had been obsessed with previous shootings, brought notes through the year about being possibly jailed or killed, and several students alerted counselors. They had ample opportunity to stop this.

this was the 31st school shooting of 2017 and the second in 18 HOURS.

This has happened way too much. Way too often.
