Any idiot should have known that things would change when Rin started training for the Olympics. They weren’t kids in high school anymore. Rin had to focus on the job and any free time he had should be to rest and focus on the friends he could see face-to-face, not his worthless best friend across the ocean in Japan.
And really, Sousuke knew this. But it still hurt. He didn’t expect anything different but God knows he wished for it.
Sousuke was aware that it was time to get his life together, forget swimming and focus on a new goal, a new dream. Of course when you spend your whole life working hard for one thing, it’s hard to focus on something else. He liked the idea of being a cop but wasn’t 100% set on it, which is why he enrolled at university in Tokyo to get a major in Criminal Justice. If he decided to be a cop, he’d be a shoot in for the training academy and if he decided against it, he had a degree to help him find a new career.
His dad was proud, of course, that he was choosing a ‘real’ career although he was secretly hoping his son would major in something like Business Management. But a degree was a degree and he was more than glad to help Sousuke pay for it. Hell, Sousuke didn’t even have to live in the school dorms, his dad got him a nice one bedroom apartment walking distance from the school. Sousuke would travel by public transportation most of the time but his dad also got him a nice looking motorcycle.
Life wasn’t exactly what Sousuke had expected it to be but he was aware that he shouldn’t complain. But every once in a while he missed Rin.
He’d just gotten out of class and was walking back to his apartment while texting Rin. He didn’t expect a reply so he was typing up a long winded text on his phone when he literally walked straight into someone. Teal eyes glanced up and, “Ha-” He squinted as if this wasn’t real. “Haru?” He’d been living in Tokyo for over a year and not once had he run into the dolphin.
