You know those days that are just about perfect? One of those. Started off right with free coffee at Caribou with dear worldly Kelsey Aho. So sad she's graduating. positively delighted, however, by prospects of new soul-sharing friends in the next year
Good class sessions, inspiring employment orientations (SO EXCITED FOR THIS JOB), painting cool designs on terra cotta pots and being impressed by Danny Allen's bikeshare program he started. I can relate.
But this tops it off nicely. Just got out of a free facial at Aveda...seeing things like "Cleaning out your fishbowl? Dump the nutrient-laden water in your plants!" and "Take shorter showers!"
And talking to anyone who would listen about how I'm a business major studying shit like this and the value they're adding to their brand and I'll patronize their business when I'm a income-generating socially conscious individual to the 30-something lady that took me back for a dark room and told me to relax...
Don't want to lose what she said so here it goes, quickly
I can tell you're an Air/Infinity element (see below), both your skin and your personality:
Settle down. See how tight your hand/arm is right now? You need to let go of control. I bet that's something you have trouble doing in your personal life. It probably has something to do with something that happened in your childhood. And people see and are intimidated because you're so sure of yourself and what you want and don't want.
Me: Someone once told me, on a date: "You're impossible, Em--you're the girl who knows exactly what she doesn't want."
You want someone you can respect enough as a man to let him wear the pants. I used to think let me put it all out there and if he's not man enough to take me as I am he's not the man for me. Because otherwise he's a waste of your time and you don’t need them anyways! But that doesn't work. It never works. You give so much of yourself, all the time, and expect others to do the same. And everyone, even--no, ESPECIALLY--your friends will let you down.
Me: Story of my life! ( Thinking of Dragoon: You have such high expectations of yourself that when others don't fulfill, you feel like they've let you down, even when it's just a part of their normal decision-making process)
And so you have to be selective into what you pour your soul. You have a good, kind, and caring heart that is unlike many others in this world. I can already tell that from speaking with you for five minutes of the goodness in your soul. You're quick to learn, creative, very intelligent, eager to help and to share and to offer your recommendations. And the whole world is going to see this pure intention as aggression and be afraid of that, shy away from that because they're not so completely self-aware.
So instead of pouring it all out, STOP giving yourself away. Stop it.
People mistakenly form the impression that they think they know all that you're about.
Maintain that mystery and conceal the depths of your soul so they're compelled to come searching for it.
Me: Here I am, wondering if I should interrogate you about how you came to this or pour out my love life struggles. Best psychoanalysis of mah lifeee
Practice humility. Practice settling yourself, sitting back, and listening to what other people have to offer. Let people come seeking you and searching for who you are and what you have to offer. Because you have so much to offer. You will do so much, and go so far. Protect your loving and giving heart, dear.
