so, maybe stopping on his way to work to rescue a kitten wasn’t his most logical plan. however, when he’d seen the tiny kitten curled up behind the dumpster on his way, he hadn’t been able to stop himself from coming to a halt as he spent the next twenty minutes earning enough trust to pick him up. originally, he’d only wanted to save the little thing, the size of it making it apparent that it hadn’t eaten in a while, but he hadn’t considered what to do once he had it. he couldn’t have pets in his own apartment, after all. but, just as he began wondering what he was going to do, he felt someone’s shoulder gently brush him as they walked by him and he turned to start a conversation quickly before they were gone.
“ okay, I know this is going to sound crazy. ” he started his conversation carefully, words leaving his lips slow as he pieced together his argument one word at a time. “ but you wouldn’t happen to be interested in a kitten, would you? ” and then, before they could protest, he threw any resemblance of a plan out the window as he began rambling to fill the silence instead. “ I only found him a moment ago, so I can’t really guarantee anything, but he seems very sweet. ” offering a sweet smile of his own, he began searching their features for any sign as to whether or not his sales pitch was working. “ and he’s free. ” he added as an afterthought, as if that fact wasn’t already abundantly clear by the fact that he was currently arguing for his adoption. “ and you’d be doing a very kind thing by giving a very sweet boy a good home? ”
