Wally West: -After not being able to get ahold of Roy, Wally decides to go to Washington DC and find him. He ran a little slower than usual, the thought of his brothers’ distance with him was becoming a lot more real to Wally now. They were all growing up and wanting to branch out of their mentors’ shadows. It’s something that all of them have wanted to do but before it seemed like it was more about proving themselves more than distancing themselves away from their mentors and their friends. He could always handle everything as well as Artemis would say but the fact that the first friends that he ever had…his own brothers. It was hard to look past the fact that they were all growing up and branching away from each other. Maybe it was time for him to consider this. Moving to Stanford is the first step but maybe he needed to continue to get out of his mentors’ shadow and focus on his new life with Artemis. Everything became even more exhausting as he thought about it in which affected his running. He decided to stop for a minute to take break, sitting on a bench nearby.-
Jade Nguyen: *Jade stands in the living room, running through some Tai Chi routines. She was feeling pent up and restless, and had been fighting the urge to go out and cause some trouble just for a few minutes cheap entertainment. With Roy out of town – gone again on one of his /Real/ Roy missions, following up on a lead that was probably going to dead end – and Jade was bored. It was hard to admit that she was becoming dependant on his being around, particularly after she had made a point of showing exactly how independent she was just a few weeks ago. So she pushed the couch to the wall and worked the stress out through the familiar movements and forms.*
Jade Nguyen: *Jade paused mid transition. People didn’t knock on their door. Neither Jade nor Roy had gone out of their way to involve themselves in the community, and they didn’t live in the kind of neighbourhood where people just popped by to say hi. Occasionally someone would come to the window, but that was a different kind of situation all together. Jade didn’t both to grab any of her weapons as she walked slowly towards the door; whoever was knocking, it was unlikely that they would be enough of a challenge to merit anything other than hand-to-hand, if they were a going to be a problem. She paused to look through they peephole and blinked in surprise. Collecting herself, she leaned casually against the wall as she pulled open the door.* Hello, Wally.
Wally West: -Upon seeing Jade open the door and hearing what she says, he instantly goes into defense mode, backing up while getting into a fighting stance.-
Jade Nguyen: *Jade smirks and crosses her arms; ‘casual’ pouring off her in waves.* Chill Little Red. I’m off the clock.
Wally West: -He calms down, for what he can at least. This was the same woman who actually succeeded in drowning the first time that they /met/ so it was only natural that he felt a bit uneasy around her.- Save it, Jade. I’m here to see if Roy’s home.
Jade Nguyen: You’re more touchy than he is. *She rolls her eyes and pushes the door open wider so that he can see intro the apartment.* He isn’t here at the moment.
Wally West: -He looks into the apartment to see for himself and then looks back at her, asking in a stern voice- Where is he?
Jade Nguyen: *Jade rolls her eyes again, but smirks slightly. She was married to the master of stern looks and voices; the comparison was funny.* How would I know? I’m not his /keeper/.
Wally West: I never said you were but you are the probably the closest person to him right now. -He says in a low voice, trailing off for a bit before speaking up again.- I guess I should go if he’s not here then.
Jade Nguyen: *Her face remained impassive at the reference to Roy’s recent behaviour. It bothered her too, but she wasn’t about to let her sister’s (formerly) freckle faced, do-gooder boyfriend know that. Instead she shrugged and grinned wider.* Need to run back before /your/ keeper notices you’ve gone missing?
Wally West: -He instantly glares at this, keeping his voice in a stern tone- Artemis is /not/ my keeper. Leave her and our relationship out of this.
Jade Nguyen: Whatever you say, Flash Boy. How /is/ my sister doing? She’s not keeping you up too late on school nights is she? *She probably should have said “thanks for stopping by, don’t do it again”, and left it at that, but what the hell, she was bored.*
Wally West: She is doing fine. Probably the best she has ever been in her whole life to be honest. -He said as he narrowed his eyes at her. He was not in the mood to have her even nonchalantly try and question their relationship especially since he didn’t even bring it up until she started talking about it.-
Jade Nguyen: *She refrained from saying “that probably wasn’t hard”.* Lighten up already would you? Sour and serious doesn’t suit you.
Wally West: -He glared at her, barking back in a somewhat angry but low tone- You don’t know /anything/ about me. -He sighs before taking a small package out of his jacket pocket- Listen, can you just give this to Roy. It’s his Christmas present.
Jade Nguyen: Mmhm. Whatever you say. *She takes the small package and inspects it from a few different angles. Jade gives the kid a typically cryptic smile and shrugs.* Sure.
Wally West: -He goes to respond but instead just remains quiet, giving her a somewhat neutral look, thinking /Please take care of Roy/ without even saying it- Thanks. -He readies himself to run but notices that he has no more snacks left which causes him to pause a bit to try and figure out where he could find somewhere to refuel again before he started back for home-
Jade Nguyen: *Jade stood there, leaning against the doorframe, and nodded slightly at his thanks. She saw him pause and remembered something she had heard Roy mention off hand once. She disappeared into the apartment for a moment, wandering into the kitchen which was right beside the entrance. She reappeared a moment later without the wrapped present, holding a half empty box of energy bars.* They’re Roy’s. I don’t like them. *She tossed the box lightly to the speedster and started closing the door.* Say hi to Artemis for me.
Wally West: -He started to speak again when he saw her toss a box at his feet. He bent over to grab the box, looking at and noticing that was a box of energy bars, in fact they were the same kind that he usually purchased. He looks at her nodding slightly as he spoke up again.- Ummm thanks? Say hi to Roy for me as well. -He munched on a bar quickly, looking back one time before speeding away back for home again.-
Jade Nguyen: *Jade gave a shrugging nod and half wave, close thing door completely just before he sped away.*
Robin: RECOGNIZED: ROBIN B12-I walk out of the zetas, looking around the training mat and the mission room, unsure now that this was my first time here at the Mountain, without Dick-
M'gann: -Gathering ingredients and calling over the mind link- Wally? Where'd you go? I thought you were going to help.
Wally: -hears her- Oh! Right! Coming! -zooms into the kitchen- Now I have two very important questions: what am I helping with again and do I get to eat some of it? -grins, waiting for her answer-
M'gann: smiling and shaking head, setting things down- Cookies. For the whole Team. So there'll be lots. And yes, I'll let you lick the spoon when we're done.
Wally: -frowns out of disappointment- The spoon? That's it?
Robin: -I hear voices and start to head towards what I assume to be the kitchen- Um, hi?
M'gann: -Looking up surprised at the voice and peering over the counter- Oh. -blinking then shaking head- Hello, Robin. How are you?
Robin: -I mess with the glasses on my eyes, unnerved that I have to protect identity from these people- I'm fine. -I lean against the doorway of the kitchen- I...have the night off -I supply uselessly-
Wally: -becomes a bit quiet when he enters the room but tries to offer up something to say- Cool. Uh did you want to hang with us then?
Robin: -notice the speedster's body language as being a bit uncomfortable but doesn't comment on it- Sure. What are you guys doing?
M'gann: -Perks up then nods, agreeing with KF- Do you? We were about to whip up a batch or two of cookies. You could help?
Wally: -Nods lightly- Yeah. Sure. Sounds good.
Robin: -I nod in turn and awkwardly approach the kitchen island, looking at the bowls of mixtures and other utensils- How can I help?
M'gann: -Smiling warmly and pulling a cookbook over mentally- Well, first we're going to need to cream some butter and sugar together. KF, could you get two sticks please? Robin, you can help me measure.
Wally: Well, you can try and see if you can help me convince Miss M to give us more cookie dough for helping her. -looks at him with a small smile
Robin: -goes to wash his hand- Cookie dough? As in licking the spoon?
Wally: Well yeah. I don't exactly want the butter or eggs. -his smile grows a bit as he says this-
Robin: I dunno, I thought speedsters loved all kinds of food -look back at him, grinning as I finish up my hands, then go to dry them-
Wally: Well we do but it tastes much better when the cookie dough is all mixed together than having each of those alone. -smiles a bit more upon seeing that you are actually grinning back at him-
Robin: Nah, live life in the 'fast lane' and eat them raw -I glance at the girl in the kitchen as the busied herself with the ingredients and almost out of habit I pick up the small kitchen knife and slice up a piece of kneaded dough on the kitchen island-
M'gann: -Frowning at the recipe as I mentally call a few smaller items to the counter. tuning out the small talk- Okay, so we have the dry ingredients and the wet ingredients, now we combine them. Robin, could you find the chocolate chips in the cupboard? -turning to the mixer- Wally, turn the oven to 350 degrees, please.
Robin: -nod at the command and lower the knife, turning to the many cupboard doors and look for a stool but find none, easily push up against the bottom ones and heft myself onto the counter top and raid the upper drawers. Finding them, I turn back to her- Mint chocolate? Regular, white or Christmas?
Wally: -does so, muttering to himself that he better get more cookie dough for this before looking over at Jason- Are you sure that you can reach up that high, Rob? -smirks-
Robin: -rolling my eyes I turn to face the speedster, remaining in place on the counter- You sure you don't wanna eat raw eggs, Speedster?
M'gann: -Smirking at KF, catching his thoughts and looking over to Robin- Hmm...what do you boys think? A little late for Christmas, but mint might be good...
Wally: I wouldn't mind. I did eat the first burnt cookies of Miss M's here. -grins at the both of them-
Robin: Mint, definitely -I nod and grab the mint chocolate chips and jump down easily, placing the small bag near her ingredients- Uh, burnt cookies?
Wally: -Nods- Yeah. They were really good too.
M'gann: -Frowning and clearing throat- It was my first time baking on earth, plus we were busy...It slipped my mind. Besides, it hasn't happened again, has it? Oh, I was so embarrassed... -taking the chips from Robin and opening the bag, tossing him a few and smiling-
Robin: -I rush to catch the few sent my way and grinning, I pop them in my mouth- Thanks. Ah...earth? You're...where are you from?
M'gann: -Casually- Oh, I'm from Mars. -Dumps bag into mixer bowl, turning it on and scraping the sides with a spatula- You boys want to find a few cookie sheets? They should be in a bottom cabinet on the left side of the sink.
Wally: -speeds over to the cabinet and grabs two cookie sheets, putting them on the counter with an anxious grin on his face for the cookie dough-
Robin: ....how old are you again? -I ask the speedster, grinning at his anxious behavior-
Wally: -raises an eyebrow- Eighteen. I love cookie dough though.
Robin: Yea we got that part -I raise onto my tip-toes and try to peer at the work the girl was doing- So...how did you guys get into the team? -I knew bits and pieces from their file but I asked to fill in the air between us-
Wally: Hey now, that's classified information there, kid. -frowns a bit, even though he isn't seriously doing so-
M'gann: -Picking up the bowl and taking it over to the opposite counter- Is it, Wally? As I recall, you spend 20 minutes telling us how you became Kid Flash a few years back. Don't you remember?
Wally: -clears throat- Yes but that is still considered classified information.
Robin: -frown, raising my hand- If you're really not at a liberty to say....I just meant the team...
M'gann: -Raises an eyebrow at Wally, then smiling, taking a spoon out and placing the dough into small balls on the cookie sheet- Once upon a time, there were three young proteges. They were altogether, all alone in the Hall of Justice, then suddenly they got an alert. Deciding to investigate, the three left off to a place called Cadmus...
Wally: -eyes go wide at what she says and whispers- Shhh.
M'gann: Oh, I'm sure he wants to hear the story. Besides, once I put the cookies in the oven, we'll have a while. -Opens the oven, taking a step back as the heat comes out, then using oven mitts to put the cookies in-
Robin: -I lean onto the counter, intrigued-
Wally: -eyes go wide again, looking around- Wait, where's my cookie dough?
M'gann: -Handing him the bowl and smiling- Happy now? -Giving Robin a rather large spoon and leaning against the counter- Would you like me to continue?
Robin: I would actually - I look down at the spoon and shrug, licking it and my eyes widen in surprise as it taste pretty darn good-
Wally: -takes the bowl and nods- Yes but hasn't Nightwing or Bats ever told you about all of us? -he asks out of curiosity as he started to eat some of the cookie dough out of the bowl-
Robin: I know what I need to know, according to them. I know you have super speed, eat a lot, talk a lot, and need lots of food? -turn to look at Miss Martian- And you have telekenisis, telepathy and shape shifting?
Wally: -grins, brushing his chest- That's me. -pauses to think about it for a moment- Wait, you mean that's all they said about me?
Robin: -I pretend to be confused- Is there more to it?
M'gann: -Holds in a laugh and pats his shoulder- There's more to all of us, Robin. There always is.
Wally: -narrows his eyes a bit- Oh no. Don't play that I-don't-know-anything-but-I-know-just-about-everything act on me. I know that act very well. Being best friends with a Batkid for several years, I tend to catch on to your mannerisms quicker than you think I do. -smirks at him-
Robin: ......so what you're saying is, there's not more to it?
Wally: -narrows his eyes even more- There. You are doing it right now.
Robin: I have no idea what you're talking about.
Wally: -glares a bit- Don't make me go for your biggest weakness, Rob...hugging. -smirks-
Robin: I think you have your Robins confused -I shrug and place the spoon in the sink to wash- I'm not allergic to hugs.
M'gann: -Beginning to wash the bowls, noting his statement and vowing to surprise hug him someday-
Wally: -rolls his eyes- Whatever you say, kid.
Robin: -mock you under my breath, grinning-
M'gann: When the three members got to Cadmus, they were surprised to find the problem bigger than they'd thought. There was a secret warehouse, and strange alien-looking creatures. Instead of alerting the Justice League, they continued their investigation. Deeper and deeper into the compound they went...
Wally: -raises an eyebrow- Now I don't sound like that. -sighs when she starts to tell the story again, going back to his bowl of cookie dough-
Robin: -turn to face this...M'gann? girl and pay attention to her story-
M'gann: Eventually, they ran into a secret room. At the center of that room, was a glass pod with the letters "Kr" on them. The science prodigy of the team immediately recognized it as the sign for "Kryptonite" or Kryptonian. Much to their surprise, they find a person inside. They decide to release him, only to have him turn on them and fight them until not one was left standing...
Robin: -I raise a brow- ....this sounds made up.
Wally: It's not. I was there...just listen. -he replied as he continued eating the cookie dough of out the large bowl-
M'gann: -ignores and continues- When they awaken, they find they are trapped within pods themselves, staring right at the person they freed. They soon find out that he is a clone of Superman and that he'd never been outside Cadmus. They offer to free him, but just before they convince him, an evil scientist comes in and announces that they too are about to be cloned. The Kryptonian clone is sent away, but quickly returns, coming to the rescue of the helpless apprentices and freeing them.
Robin: -grins- Damsels in distress.
Wally: -rolls eyes at his comment- Shhh.
M'gann: As soon as they are free, they destroy the blood samples taken from them and make to escape. The genomorphs, -pauses- those are Cadmus creations.... The genomorphs quickly pursued the young heroes, cutting them off. -Glancing at the timer and trying to think of ways to cut it shorter- They tried different ways, but each time were cut off. That's when the villain Blockbuster comes in.
Robin: -I frown, the report not being this detailed-
M'gann: The tech expert of the team comes up with a plan to defeat the monstrosity, and although it will be at risk to their very lives, they decide to go through with it. The speedster lures the monster away, causing him to knock into a support beam. The clone and the Atlantean protégé destroy two more support pillars. The tech and stealth expert destroys the final one, causing the building to collapse on the monster, as well as the young heroes.
Robin: ....Uh...
M'gann: Thankfully, they survive, defeating the monster, and rescuing the clone. The Justice League soon arrived, not pleased with their actions. The 4 heroes challenge their mentors, saying how well they worked as a team. After a bit of discussion, 3 days worth....they agreed to let the heroes form a team. Robin, Kid Flash, Aqualad, and the Superboy. And /that's/ how they got into the Team.
-moving over to the oven and pulling the cookies out, glad they're not burnt for once-
Robin: ....should sell the rights to Disney, this is good stuff. -I joke, leaning forward to peer at the cookies-
Robin: -looking over at the kid, grinning a bit- Did you follow all of that?
M'gann: -Laughing and placing cookies on a plate- Thanks for all your help...and sorry the story was a bit extensive...I got into it. -shakes head-
Robin: -shrug- The more details, the better.
Wally: -grabs a cookie, eating it as he rests his arm on the kid's shoulder- This was fun though.
Robin: -I grin, glancing between them- Yea...it was. Thanks for keeping boredom at bay, guys.
M'gann: You're welcome to stop by any time, Robin. I live here...so I'm always around. -gives him a small hug-
Robin: -still at the hug but lets her reluctantly, patting her arm- Good to know?
Wally: Yeah. Same here, kid. -smiles as he gives you a quick hug and grabs another cookie-
